The presence of the newly constructed Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Fadan Kamantan has brought succor to the residents who before now had to travel 35 kilometers to access services.<\/p>\n
A patient, Benjamin Yakubu disclosed this when a team of journalists touring projects being executed by the Kaduna State Government led by Governor Nasir el-Rufai visited the PHC on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“The newly constructed primary health care centre has saved me traveling 35 kilometres to Zonkwa to seek treatment for a deep cut I secured on duty”.<\/p>\n
Yakubu, a carpenter, said that he was grateful for the upgrading of the PHC by Governor el-Rufai.<\/p>\n
“They are taking good care of me since I was injured three days ago by roofing sheets.<\/p>\n
“I came from 13 kilometres away. I would have been forced to go to Zonkwa, 35 kilometres from here.<\/p>\n
“I appreciate the govt for bringing the PHC here, I thank the govt because if the hospital was not here I would have suffered more. For the health practitioners, may God continue to strengthen them.<\/p>\n
Fielding questions, Ezekiel Hassan a volunteer staff staying in the newly constructed staff quarters said that they are rendering 24 hours services.<\/p>\n
” Staying in the quarters has eased my job. Because at anytime they bring the patients, you find somebody,” he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that they get over 30 women who attend antenatal at the centre monthly.<\/p>\n
Hassan said that four technical staff, out of which two are permanent alongside one midwife posted on MSS and a volunteer run the centre.<\/p>\n
Nathan Auta from the Project Unit Ministry of Health and Human Services said that the projects at the PHC include two numbers one bedroom apartment quarters.<\/p>\n
“It also has a new clinic built, comprising three wards and offices for staff also a laboratory,” he said.<\/p>\n
He also revealed that a perimeter fencing was done all round the centre.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, he said there were building 255 PHCs, out of which 103 completed, some are about 80 per cent completion.<\/p>\n
“It was not expected to exceed five months construction. When they are all completed, government is making arrangements to recruit nurses and doctors,” he added<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
