LG Polls: My Administration\u2019s Interest is to Set Example for Credible Election in Nigeria<\/p>\n

Kaduna State Governor , Malam Nasir El-Rufai was among those accredited at the Ungwar Sarki Polling unit 024, .this morning at the on-going LG election. The interest of his administration he said is to set example for credible election in Nigeria .<\/p>\n
The Governor, who also said use of electronic voting machine has made the voting process simple and easy , gave assurance that the ongoing local government election is not only fair ,but will be a reference point .<\/p>\n
While fielding questions from journalists shortly after casting his vote, El-Rufai maintained that his administration will set example indicating that Nigerians can hold credible elections without distorting the process.<\/p>\n
He however, expressed concern over the accreditation which was done manually instead of using the card reader. But said , \u201cThe problem emanated from the refusal of INEC to allow the state electoral commission access to the card reader machines despite engagement and assurance given by INEC.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the last minute to the elections they said they could not provide us with the six thousand card readers that we needed because they are preparing for Osun and Ekiti elections and the 2019 elections.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile he said, \u201cThe election process is smooth. I was accredited the voting was smooth. It took less than 10 seconds. I think is a good beginning and I hope it would end as it began<\/p>\n
\u201cWe heard of issues in two local governments of Jaba and Kaura in southern Kaduna. The electoral commission has to postpone the elections; they would fix a new date for the elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope these two local governments will concentrate on security and logistics resources on the day of the scheduled election to avoid what happened there.\u201d<\/p>\n
