The MD\/CEO Hybrid Feeds, Leye Alayande has commended the Africa Media Development Foundation and OmniAgrik Specialties for the Journalists\u2019 mentorship on Reporting Food Security initiative in Kaduna.<\/div>\n

Speaking to journalists on a one-day field trip to the Hybrid Feeds plant in Kaduna, Alayande said the importance of food to the safety of a nation cannot be overemphasized \u201cthat is why you don\u2019t play politics with food\u201d.<\/div>\n

Alayande further emphasized the need for government and other stakeholders to take food production seriously as it is a major contributory factor to the problem of insecurity in the nation \u201cany government that is not taking food production seriously will create room for insecurity, malnutrition, and there will be poor population growth\u201d.<\/div>\n

Addressing the Management and some staff of the company, Dr. Yila Umaru, MD\/CEO, OmniAgrik Specialties, said the aim of the activity was to enable participants have an insight into the agro value chain; observe the process to understand what it entails.<\/div>\n

The Deputy Executive Director AMDF, Sekyen Dadik, said as a media development organization, the organization thought it wise to play its part on the challenge of food security in Nigeria due to the low level of information on food security and what needs to be done to tackle it.<\/div>\n

\u201cIt is important that journalists report from an informed position, that way, they will affect policy makers and even the consumers out there will gain from that knowledge\u201d, she said.<\/div>\n
