Attention of Nigerians has been drawn to agencies engaged in issuance of fake insurance certificates.<\/p>\n
Out of the 60million Nigerians with insurance cover, only about 10% are said to be genuine.<\/p>\n
This revelation was made to journalists by the Divisional Director, Leadway Assurance Company Limited, Olufade Allan on Wednesday during a Press Conference at the NUJ Secretariat, Kaduna Council.<\/p>\n
Allan, while speaking said, ” some of the licensing agencies issued fake insurance certificate to Nigerians with the name of dead insurance companies that is no more functioning in the last 20 years”.<\/p>\n
He however cautioned that the numerous benefits of having insurance cover notwithstanding,\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cNigerians should beware of agencies that issued fake certificates\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Branch Manager, Emmanuel Olusola while sensitizing members of the NUJ on the need to have insurance cover said, considering the risk journalists are exposed to, it is important that they key into the insurance policy.<\/p>\n
\u201cNobody is praying for something bad to happen, but accident could be stage managed or\u00a0natural, so when it happened and you are under insurance cover you can be assure of somebody to pay for the loss”.H he said.<\/p>\n
Throwing light on the allegations that some insurance companies dodged claims of their clients, he says: “in time past it happened, but I can tell you that with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) no insurance company can cheat it client”.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the third party insurance, he explained that the regulatory price is five thousand naira, saying that any price below that is not genuine.<\/p>\n
