Kaduna State Government Keys into Campaign on Violence against Children<\/p>\n

Kaduna state is the 7th<\/sup> state to key into the campaign on violence against children. The state is partnering stake holders to put a stop on such injurious act where children are exposed to all manners of violence as anyone found wanting would be made to face the \u00a0wrath of the law.<\/p>\n The Kaduna state Commissioner, Women Affairs and Social Development, Afsat Baba disclosed this to journalists in a press briefing held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat Kaduna.<\/p>\n Expressing her worries over the unacceptable corrective measures some parents use on their children, some causing body inflictions which she said infringes on the rights of the child; the document would help in addressing all forms of violence against children and that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development would be at the fore front of the Campaign which would be supported by development partners.<\/p>\n Afsat called on Stakeholders, Local Governments, Religious Leaders and Civil Society Organizations to join hands with her ministry to make the campaign worthwhile. The representative of His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Kaduna state, ,\u00a0 Architect Bala Bantex \u00a0\u00a0launched\u00a0 the campaign \u00a0at Yar\u2019adua Hall, Murtala square, Kaduna.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is a working document for all of us and that is why we want each and every one of us to join hands with the government and as parents to ensure that our children are safe\u201d.<\/p>\n She also noted that they are facing a new challenge of selling children and that 33 children recently were rescued and commended stakeholders for their continuous support. \u00a0The commissioner commended the Kaduna state House of Assembly efforts on the passage of the bill.
