TUKUR &TUKUR FOUNDATION, is a non governmental organization that has continued to touch the lives of Nigerians through its medical services.<\/div>\n

An organization born out of the zeal to put smiles on the faces of the less priviledged in the society.<\/div>\n

Col. Haruna Idris Zaria retired is the Coordinator,TUKUR & TUKUR FOUNDATION. A man full of milk of human kindness whose joy is that of touching lives.<\/div>\n

According to him,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“I saw death and death ran away from me. So, l took up the challenge to contribute to the society. We engage in medical services with my team of medical experts.\u00a0 We go to schools give uniforms, shoes and medical treatment all for free.”<\/div>\n

The Coordinator, in a brief chat with Zainab Tanimu of Newsreservoir during one of the organization’s free medical services at Arewa House Kaduna, opened up on the activities of the foundation.<\/div>\n

What is the reason for engaging in such activity?\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to the Coordinator, TUKUR & TUKUR FOUNDATION, the government cannot do it alone, thus, their intervention.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“The essence of this intervention is purely humanitarian. Being a charity organization, we are trying to assist the\u00a0 government because government cannot do it alone.\u00a0 Considering the present economic situation, people need help.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
TUKUR &TUKUR FOUNDATION for over 8years has through its medical outreach\u00a0 been touching lives and giving hopes to the vulnerable in the society.<\/div>\n

“We started this intervention since 1914 and the response has been very encouraging. People have been trooping in, you can see for yourself.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“We have been here since 8am and will be here till evening. You can see for yourself our stock are getting finished.<\/div>\n
\u00a0People really need to be assisted.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As to whether he feels fulfilled carrying out this\u00a0 activity, he has this to say.<\/div>\n

“I feel very fulfilled seeing that joy on the faces of the people coming to receive assistance. We feel happier helping humanity. Helping those that don’t have.<\/div>\n

“My main concern really is the widows, orphans and people with disabilities but with the present economic situation, we give opportunity to everyone who comes here for assistance. Everything, consultation, treatment drugs are all for free.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Our medical outreach takes care of diseases like malaria, typhoid, body weaknesses, skin diseases hypertension, diabetes to mention a few.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\n

“We also conduct eye screening. We screen for those that have cateract.When we come across such cases, we book them for another outing where we will spend four days.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u00a0“We establish what is call eye camp. During this period we perform cataract surgery for them all for free. Also we engage in what we call ENT. That is assuring in the arrear of ear, nose and throat. All these services are conducted free of charge by medical experts.<\/div>\n
We visit other states too aside services we render in Kaduna.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
“We also assist in other arrears. Like the physically challenged that were here today, three quarter of them, we gave them the tricycles they are using.<\/div>\n
This is what we have been doing over the years.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u00a0Col.\u00a0 Haruna is calling on well- to do in the society and other organizations to help in touching the lives of the needy in the society. People are in dare need of assistance, he stressed.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
” Our prayers is that people should come out and assist. They should emulate us, do more than what we are doing. That is our prayers. lf we can get more people engaging in this, all these sicknesses will be reduced to the barest minimal.<\/div>\n

“I got to know of this free medical services through my son who came to Arewa House. As he was passing, he\u00a0 saw a gathering. When he got there, he saw people receiving free medical treatment. He joined them because he was having malaria. After seeing the doctor, he was given drugs all for free.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
When he got home, he encouraged me to go too because l have been complaining\u00a0 of my health. I have high blood pressure and feel some pains. As l was leaving, some of my neighbors followed me here too.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We thank God for this medical outreach because for some of us who do not have the financial capability to go to the hospital, we are being treated and given drugs for free.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I pray that the Almighty enrich this foundation as they continue to bring succour to the doorsteps of the less priviledged.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
