Savannah Conference Volleyball League: ‘No Player Would Be Allowed To Play Without License,’<\/p>\n

The Chairman \u00a0Control \u00a0Committee, \u00a0of the \u00a0League, \u00a0Martins Melandie has said no player would be allowed to play in the Savannah Conference \u00a0of the \u00a0Nigeria Volleyball Federation \u00a0(NVBF), League, as action commences on Sunday \u00a0at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Indoor \u00a0Sports Complex, \u00a0Murtala Mohammed Square, \u00a0Kaduna.<\/p>\n
Melandie expressed this while reeling out the rules of the competition at the Media Center, \u00a0Ahmadu Bello Stadium, \u00a0Kaduna \u00a0on Saturday \u00a0evening.<\/p>\n
“Before \u00a0every \u00a0match, \u00a0we will \u00a0check.\u00a0 We will \u00a0not \u00a0condone double registration of players and any player without license will not be \u00a0allowed to play.<\/p>\n
“Right now \u00a0I have received \u00a0a complaint \u00a0that \u00a0a player \u00a0registered \u00a0elsewhere.\u00a0 If we find \u00a0out the club did it intentionally, \u00a0the club will \u00a0pay fine of N50,000 and the player would be disqualified.<\/p>\n
“If you have any such players, \u00a0keep them aside and don’t feature them,” he warned.<\/p>\n
Speaking further, \u00a0he warned that they will \u00a0not tolerate any acts of indiscipline or damage of property.”If you are \u00a0not satisfied \u00a0with an officiating, \u00a0the rules have given you \u00a0opportunity to protest.\u00a0 Let’s follow due process bin protests,” he advised.<\/p>\n
Melandie, \u00a0who is \u00a0also the Technical \u00a0Director \u00a0of the NVBF appealed to the \u00a0referees to be fair \u00a0in officiating.<\/p>\n
“For the referees, \u00a0we have come this far and will not want \u00a0unfair \u00a0officiating,” he pleaded.<\/p>\n
On the format that would be adopted \u00a0for \u00a0play, \u00a0he said it would be based on \u00a0home and away basis.<\/p>\n
“We will \u00a0play round robbin against the home \u00a0and away \u00a0fixtures. We will use the Murtala \u00a0Square \u00a0for all the matches. With eight matches played each day. Whistle time is 7am. Which means teams and officials should be in the hall, 30 minutes \u00a0before that time,” he stressed.<\/p>\n
Still on discipline, \u00a0he vowed that only the internationally recognized rules of FIVB will be administered.<\/p>\n
“Coaches must be properly dressed, \u00a0if not they \u00a0can’t sit on the bench.\u00a0 If the head coach is wearing \u00a0suit, \u00a0other officials \u00a0must also wear \u00a0suits.\u00a0 If he takes off his \u00a0suit during the \u00a0game, \u00a0all others must also take off theirs. Jerseys must \u00a0be properly \u00a0numbered,” he warned.<\/p>\n
Explaining on how\u00a0 scores\u00a0 will be recorded \u00a0for teams, \u00a0he said that it would not always be winner takes all.<\/p>\n
“If you \u00a0win your \u00a0game 3-0 or 3-1 you get three points.\u00a0 If you win 3-2, you get \u00a0two points \u00a0and the opponents \u00a0get one point,” he declared.<\/p>\n
Draws were held at same meeting, \u00a0for \u00a0teams to know their \u00a0opponents.<\/p>\n
At the end of the week-long league, \u00a0eight out of the 16 male and female \u00a0teams \u00a0will qualify for the \u00a0national \u00a0finals, \u00a0where they will \u00a0battle the \u00a0best \u00a0eight from the Atlantic Conference.<\/p>\n
The best four male and equal \u00a0number of female teams are expected to \u00a0qualify.<\/p>\n
