Faith Academy Emerges Winner Kaduna Maiden Inter Schools Sports Festival<\/p>\n

The Maiden Kaduna State Inter Schools Sports Festival which ended in Kaduna on Saturday night at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium saw Faith Academy Kaduna emerging the overall winner of the game.<\/p>\n
They won a total of 26 medals,\u00a0comprising 16 gold,\u00a0nine silver and one bronze medals to achieve the feat.<\/p>\n
Second position was clinched by Bethel Baptist College with six gold,\u00a0 two silver and three bronze.<\/p>\n
Our Lady of Fatima,\u00a0an all-girls school\u00a0placed third with four gold, seven silver and five bronze medals.<\/p>\n
Chairman, Main Organizing Committee (MOC),\u00a0Mr. Emmanuel Nden while fielding questions from journalists after the presentation of prizes and trophies had commended the zeal and commitments displayed at the game. He described the sports festival as historic.<\/p>\n
Nden, while expressing happiness that the festival started and ended successfully commended the participants for discipline exhibited all through.<\/p>\n
He thanked the Director Grassroots Sports Development, Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ademola Are, Commissioner of Youth Sports and Culture,\u00a0 Honourable Daniel Danauta,\u00a0 Zonal Coordinator Federal Ministry of Youth And Sports Development,\u00a0 North West, Mr.\u00a0 Olusola Luke and the President Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF),\u00a0 Engineer Musa Nimrod for gracing the festival.<\/p>\n
Also speaking, facilitator of the festival, Coach Felix Osiebe assured that talents discovered would be groomed and presented for trials ahead of the National Youth Games,\u00a0 where they hope to represent Kaduna State.<\/p>\n
He explained that though they planned to host\u00a0forty schools,\u00a0only 28 participated.<\/p>\n
“We invited 171 schools but with our target at getting 40 to feature.\u00a0 We exceeded the target and got\u00a0entries from 48 schools but the\u00a0security challenges in the Kaduna metropolis made some\u00a0 pull out,\u00a0 leaving only\u00a0 28 participants, ” he disclosed.<\/p>\n
When reacting to their victory, captain of Faith Academy team,\u00a0Josiah Joel said that they were happy they finished tops.<\/p>\n
Joel,\u00a0who is the school’s games prefect said that at the initial stage,\u00a0they had stiff competition but improved over time.<\/p>\n
He assured that other students in the school who are not active in sports would be motivated to start active participation as a result of their success.<\/p>\n
The top\u00a0teams were presented with cash prizes donated by a Lagos based firm,\u00a0\u2018Making of Champions\u2019, which made\u00a0 N200,000 prize money available.<\/p>\n
Champions got\u00a0N80, 000, first runners \u00a0up N50,000 and second runners-up N30, 000.<\/p>\n
The two-day festival solely sponsored by Faith Academy Kaduna in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) was held on June \u00a022 and 23.<\/p>\n
