Alhaji Sani Malumfashi the father of slain Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shu\u2019aibu Sani Malumfashi attached to the Kebbi State Command has called on the police and relevant authorities to help fish out the culprits responsible for his son’s untimely death.<\/div>\n

The alleged claim by the police that his son was killed by a fellow police officer he said was untrue.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This was debunked in a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.<\/div>\n
Malumfashi, a one time Council Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists Kaduna, and correspondent with the Hausa service of the Voice of America (VOA) said findings have revealed that his 33years old son was murdered by a group of people and not as claimed by the police.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The bereaved father is calling for justice while urging the relevant authorities to\u00a0 carry out thorough investigations as to ‘who’ and\u00a0 why his son was murdered in cold blood.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
“One person could not have killed him.<\/div>\n
You see, when they brought his corpse for the ritual bath carried out on a dead Muslim corpse, we saw that his neck was dangling. This is suggesting that he was strangled to death by his killers<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

\u201d We believe, one person held his hands to the back and one other strangled him and then use a sharp object to pierce his heart.\u00a0 There could be a third person who was looking at the house when the heinous act was being perpetrated. My 33-year-old son was not killed by a fellow policeman.\u00a0 \u00a0He bursted.<\/div>\n

\u201cThose of us who saw his corpse with some medics concluded that one person could not have killed him.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Startling of it all the father said, was the timing of the gruesome act.\u00a0 It was around 2.10 pm, in the afternoon. The late officer he disclosed lived alone in a chalet because his wife just gave birth.<\/div>\n

Even at that, the question is, “How could he just be killed in that hour without any clue?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

\u201d If a police officer of his rank, a Divisional Crime Officer(DCO) could be killed like that, what more of a poor journalist like me or the man on the street?<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

He knows his son is gone and will not come back, justice must prevail.The culprits must be fished out, he said.<\/div>\n

“I want those who have a hand in his murder to be fished out.<\/div>\n
I want justice for my son. Let us know why he was killed and those behind his gruesome murder.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

According to the statement issued by<\/div>\n
the Kebbi State police command and made available to newsmen, it has arrested ASP Abdullahi Garba who was allegedly accused of stabbing ASP Shuaib Malumfashi which resulted in his death.<\/div>\n

\u00a0\u201cOn the 19th October, 2022 at about 1410hrs, one ASP Abdullahi Garba, Officer in charge, Sauwa Police outpost, had an altercation with ASP Shu\u2019aibu Sani Malumfashi, a Divisional Crime Officer II, Argungu Divisional Police Headquarters, inside fishing Village area, Argungu town.<\/div>\n
\u201cAs a result of that, they engaged themselves in physical combat at the frontage of ASP Abdullahi Garba\u2019s shop. While fighting, ASP Abdullahi Garba used a scissor and stabbed ASP Shu\u2019aibu Sani Malumfashi in his left rib.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The command spokesman, SP Nafi\u2019u\u00a0 Abubakar said on receipt of the report, “the Divisional Police Officer, Argungu, swiftly rushed to the scene, arrested the erring Officer, recovered the exhibit and rushed ASP Shu\u2019aibu Sani Malunfashi to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, Birnin Kebbi, where regrettably, a medical Doctor confirmed him dead.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With this development, “the erring Police Officer, ASP Abdullahi Garba was immediately arrested and detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Birnin Kebbi, while the case has also been referred to the Homicide section for a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the ugly incident.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The statement noted that Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP. Ahmed Magaji Kontagora has delegated a team of senior Police Officers to condole the family and friends of the deceased Police Officer, Asp Shu\u2019aibu Sani Malunfashi and pray for the repose of his soul.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

However, CP Ahmed Magaji Kontagora has condemned the action exhibited by the erring Officer which he said goes contrary to teachings of the Police, Police Act and Regulations as well as other relevant laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.<\/div>\n

He warned Officers and men of the Command to always live in peace with one another and report their grievances to the appropriate sections within the Force for redress instead of referring to self help.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, he has assured members of the public that, justice will be done in the investigation of the case and the outcome made\u00a0 public<\/div>\n
