Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Comrade Shehu Sani has called on Nigerians to re-elect the All Progressive Congress Party, APC into power come 2019 election as it not only represents the hope and interest of the common man in Nigeria but represents continuity. President Buhari\u2019s integrity is such to be reckoned with. He said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd for the very fact that we have a president that has become a symbol of discipline and integrity is a very big plus and a reason for us to be re-elected\u201d.<\/p>\n
Senator Shehu Sani made this call while speaking with journalists at his residence where he hosted people with disabilities to sallah feast saying every human being has the right to equal treatment.<\/p>\n
The lawmaker however acknowledged the fact that the party has been faced with some challenges which he said it tries to surmount.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut we cannot in every way say there were no challenges and there were no weaknesses. The pervasive insecurity particularly in the middle belt area is of major concern.<\/p>\n
Compulsions and convulsions we have also seen in the ruling political party that have led to the exists of many people out of the party. That is also a challenge.<\/p>\n
We have also seen the level of poverty and unemployment. It is still very high. This is also a challenge.<\/p>\n
Even in the midst of these challenges, Buhari\u2019s administration the lawmaker said has recorded some measureable achievements.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe major achievement has been in the area of fight against corruption. Also is the completion of projects and initiation of new ones and a strong impact in the area of security.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe insurgence that used to throw bombs in the cities in the north- west, in the north-central and other parts in Nigeria have now been pushed back to spectacular attacks and attacks on some targets on few occasions. \u00a0That is also progress that has been achieved.<\/p>\n
\u201c The very fact that Nigeria today is more peaceful than it was in the past \u00a0is also an achievement that we should all take very seriously. And most importantly, Nigerian identity is also a source of pride today. That is also an achievement.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou should elect the APC back to power for the very fact that it represents hope it also represents continuity and also represents the interest of the common man in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He encouraged that people collect their permanent voter\u2019s cards as that would give them the right to elect leaders of their choice.<\/p>\n
On the part of the leaders it is their responsibilities to represent the interest of all irrespective of their status. People living with disabilities have equal rights just as every other citizens He stressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople living with disabilities are human beings like any other person. They need assistance, \u00a0they need support and they also need love. And what we are doing today is to demonstrate that they are human beings like us and should also be treated like human beings.<\/p>\n
\u201c I humbly invited you today to my house for us to have sallah feast. I am not bringing them here because it is some few months to the general election. I have always been with them from the first day up to date. They are here with me to celebrate sallah and for us to pray for our country for its peace, for its unity and also for its progress.<\/p>\n

\u201c These people have a role to play in electing people that would serve and protect their interest. It is wrong for government in the country to be driving away people living with disabilities or discriminate against them. If you rehabilitate them, they should be supported and should also be empowered. They are part of our society. We should embrace them. We should recognize them and we should give them the necessary respect they deserve. He ended.<\/p>\n
Responding on behalf of people living with disabilities, the leader extended their appreciations to the senator who they said have always remembered them.<\/p>\n
