The past Executive member of the club, PAZC Akeen sani impressed by the existing teacher\/student cordial relationship in his opening address urged that the temple be sustained for better learning condition. Sani also commended the teachers for their doggedness in making the school great.<\/div>\n

“I am really overwhelmed, l have discovered something new today. Personally, l never knew that so many children were in this condition and actually in the school.<\/div>\n

“My eyes are opened to a lot of things that we can take care of and l am really excited that we came in and were able to contribute the very little that we have. It’s small but again it will go a long way in keeping their cleanliness. And l believe we have imparted in our own little way, and God’s willing we will definitely reach out to them and do more.<\/div>\n

Rachel gave kudos to the state government for putting in place such facility.<\/div>\n

“Truly l will say kudos to the state government for putting up this facility. For doing such a wonderful job of putting them together and having a special school for them, and also, catering for their special needs because children, no matter their condition, they need to learn and they need to be useful to the society. If you leave them, they will go on the street instead. So, it is good that government has deemed it necessary to put this facility in place and l pray that they will be able to do a lot more to improve on the current conditions of the school.<\/div>\n

Earlier, during her speech before the presentation, she commended the teachers for their efforts in impacting on the lives of these children with special needs.<\/div>\n

“We chose this school as their name imply, ‘special education’. You can see that they are physically challenged people that are here and this school has over 1000 students.<\/div>\n

“We came here to make sure that they also feel belonged. For them to feel the togetherness, that we, members of rotary club Kaduna care for them, we love them.”<\/div>\n

The month of March is usually set aside by Rotary club for water, sanitation and hygiene. This time, it is marked in April because they were writing exams. She stated.<\/div>\n

“The essence of coming here today is to educate the students on how to properly keep their body clean in the aspect of hygiene also how best they can use their water because water is life.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“We also came here with some sanitation materials for them because it is very important for them to keep their surroundings clean. That is why we have some few tokens we brought for them<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

today such as brooms, mop stick, buckets, washing soap(liquid soap) that they can also use to wash the toilet.<\/div>\n

This is not the first time of coming here. The last time we gave them mosquito nets.”<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Giving her assessment of the school.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“From my assessment, the school l must say is doing well. The government is trying it best and you know, government cannot do it alone. That is why they need organization like ours and others to come and give a helping hand. But the government can still do more. I must commend the teachers because handling special children like this is not an easy task.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The Principal, Bako Tanko Jocks in a brief chat with Newsreservoir thanked Rotary club for their gesture and show of love. The school he said was established in 1979 by the government and the children are brought to the school by the government.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The government he said has taken it upon itself to feed the children, they are given transport money back home.<\/div>\n
The school is government sponsor, he added.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The children have been having free education since it inception.<\/div>\n
The school is made up of\u00a0 both the visually and the hearing impaired.<\/div>\n
\u00a0In this school we have nursery, primary and secondary. The government takes care of the children of special needs.”<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As to whether he derives satisfaction in what he is doing, finding himself in the mix of these special group of children? He has this to say.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Being with them is fun and is something that brings satisfaction because these children at this level they want care which we have been trying our best.\u00a0 It is so satisfying because by the time we train them, we see most of them come out successful in life.<\/div>\n

Amongst them we have chartered accountants, teachers even there is one of them who wants to be a surgeon. He is among the hearing impaired and we are following up his progress.<\/div>\n

Bako has expressed joy over the proposed government policy of inclusiveness. A policy whereby both physically challenged children and others come together to learn under the same roof. This he said will give them the opportunity to interact.<\/div>\n

The policy he said will enhance love and togetherness.<\/div>\n
