The Independent National Electoral Commissioner (INEC) has declared Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) winner of the governorship election in Adamawa State.<\/p>\n

\n
\u00a0Fintiri won the supplementary election with 9,337 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aisha Dahiru,\u00a0 Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored\u00a0 6,513 votes.<\/p>\n
\n
\n
The supplementary poll was held in 69 polling units in the 20 local governments in the state, with less than 40,000 eligible voters.<\/p>\n
\n
\n
Altogether, the main election and the rerun gives governor Fintiri a total of<\/p>\n
430,861 votes while his closest contender, Aisha Binani of the APC polled 398,788 votes.<\/p>\n
\n
\n
The INEC Returning Officer in the state, Prof. Mohammed Mele in his\u00a0 declaration said the PDP governorship candidate has met the constitutional requirement and thereby returned as governor elect.<\/p>\n
