Keep to Your Promises – FOMWAN Charges Muslim Ummah<\/p>\n

The Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN has called on Muslim brothers and sisters to cultivate the habit of keeping to their promises.<\/p>\n

\n

Allah it said frowns at those who break promises.<\/p>\n

\n

This was stated during the occasion of its 28th Annual Closing Ramadan Lecture held in Kaduna.<\/p>\n

\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

The Guest Speaker, the Naibi Sultan Bello Masjid, Sheikh Usama Umar Idris<\/p>\n

emphasizing on the need of keeping to one’s promises said in Islam, breaking one’s promise is considered to be one of the greater sins that a person can commit.<\/p>\n

\n

In one of the chapters of the Quran, Allah says,<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\u201cAnd be true to every promise, for verily you will be called to account for every promise which you have made.\u201d (17:34)<\/p>\n

\n

On the Day of Judgment Allah will ask you about every promise that you made to another and whether you kept that promise.”<\/p>\n

\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

Expatiating further, he said, aside the fact that keeping of promise helps in promoting peace amongst the Muslim Ummah, it goes a long way in shapening the society.<\/p>\n

It also helps to prevent all manners of anomalies like kidnapping, killings and other vices such which is bedeviling the states and nation today.<\/p>\n

\n

He challenged husbands to rise up to their responsibilities by fulfilling the promise between them and their wives, children as well as that of proper upbringing of their wards.<\/p>\n

Men he tasked should seek for Islamic knowledge to be able to play their roles effectively.<\/p>\n

\n

If individuals learn to keep to their promises, Allah will protect them , he added.<\/p>\n

“If the Muslim Ummah are doing their best, keep their promises, Allah will protect them. They can get protection from SWT. If we don’t keep our promise, Allah will test us.”<\/div>\n

He urged Muslims to always keep their promises as directed by Allah. “That is why l am calling on us, especially the politicians to fear Allah by fulfilling their promises.”<\/div>\n

Representing the Grand Kadir, Sultan Bello Mosque, Muhammed Aminu Danjuna, the Chairman of the occasion, Kadir Muhammed Nasiru Saidu said keeping of promises is key while urging that people form the habit of keeping to their words\u00a0 particularly, the politicians who are in the habit of ‘ promise and fail’.<\/div>\n

Emphasizing the gravity of one not keeping to promise made, he said.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“These promises, there are those between you and your creator, Allah. There are those promises between you and the noble Prophet, SAW. There is also promises between you and the ummah.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
That of the Ummah he categorized as follows:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Promises between you and the Muslims; promises between you and the non-Muslims; you and animals; you and environment.\u00a0 You must keep to your promise and do what is right at all times.”<\/div>\n

The Amira, Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria, FOMWAN Kaduna State’s Chapter, Pharm. Aisha Isiyaku Tukur also speaking on the importance of the topic explained why they deemed it fit to chose such a topic.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Our topic for this year is keeping your promises.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We want to remind the Muslim Ummah the essence of keeping promises.<\/div>\n
Whatever you promise, you should make sure you fulfill it. It is hypocrites that usually don’t keep to promises.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“We look at our communities, we hardly ever keep to our promises. Those that are in government and even those that are not in government.\u00a0 We should make sure we mind what we promise and make sure we fulfill it.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Pham. Isiyaku backs it up with an Hadith.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“There is an\u00a0 hadith that said we should keep to promises if not you are one of 3 highest of Munafikun. And promise is one of it and If you don’t keep your promise you are a hypocrite.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
On how best she and her executives have faired within her 4yrs tenure, she has this to say.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Alhamdullilah, FOMWAN is a 4yrs tenure. By this year a new Amiral will come on board. In FOMWAN, our major work is Dawa’ah programme.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“In Dawa’ah our major challenge was insecurity. It stopped us from moving around, so we had to restrict ourselves to our area of domain”.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In terms of health programmes, a lot she said had been achieved. Their challenge is that the FOMWAN hospital is too small for their population. The hospital is currently undergoing renovation.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Pham. Aisha called on well to do and good people of Kaduna state to donate in the course of bringing succor to the needy.<\/div>\n

In the area of humanitarian services, despite the economy hardship, the organization was able to feed 500 people.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“People generally know that FOMWAN as an umbrella body usually pull its resources together. Whatever you give us, we pull our affiliates together and go together.<\/div>\n

I will like to believe that we have done well and will want to plead to organizations to remain as one and embrace team work.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
