IMPORTANCE OF FIRST TEN DAYS OF DHULHAJJ TO A MUSLIM<\/p>\n

The significance of these ten days cannot be over emphasized as there are lots of benefits awaiting every Muslim that observes it.<\/p>\n

It is advisable and of great importance that Muslims increase their dhikr in these 10 days.<\/p>\n

In Makkah, the Talbiyah will be on every pilgrim\u2019s tongue throughout the day and night; those at home also have been commanded to praise Allah constantly in these ten days.<\/p>\n

What is Dhulhajj?<\/p>\n

Dhu al-Hijja is the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It is the month in which the \u1e24ajj takes place as well as Eid al-Adha, the \u201cFestival of the Sacrifice.\u201d The Arabic name of the month, Dhu al-Hijja, means “Possessor of the Pilgrimage” or “The Month of the Pilgrimage”<\/div>\n

It is a time of joy, gratitude and generosity where Dhul Hijjah serves as a reminder of the importance of faith, sacrifice and unity among Muslims<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The 9th day, the day of Arafah, is where 2 years’ worth of sins will be forgiven in light of fasting.<\/div>\n
\u00a0“There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than on these days.” (Meaning: the first ten days of Dhul al-Hijjah). (Al-Bukhari)<\/div>\n

What to Do In These Ten Days (attracts a lot of rewards)<\/p>\n

Constant recitation of the following.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Tahmeed: Al-hamdu Lillah (All praises be to God)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Tahleel: Laa ilaha ill-Allah (There is no god but Allah)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Tasbeeh: Subhaan-Allah (Glory be to God)<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Reciting SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi (Glory be to Allah and praise Him) one hundred times a day will wipe away sins – no matter how burdensome they are<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Istighfaar<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Use these blessed days to seek forgiveness for all our wrongdoings.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Fasting<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It is Sunnah for the Muslim to fast on the first nine days of Dhul Hijjah because fasting is one of the best of deeds. In a hadith Qudsi, Allah says: \u201cAll the deeds of the son of Adam are for him, except fasting, which is for Me and I shall reward for it.\u201d [Sahih Al-Bukhari, 1805]<\/div>\n

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: \u201cFasting the day of `Arafah expiates the sins of two years: the past one and the coming one.\u201d [Sahih Muslim]<\/div>\n

Give in charity<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Give in charity in these blessed days, as much as you can.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

Preserve ties of kinship<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Maintaining the ties of kinship is from the best of deeds due to the saying of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): \u201cWhoever would like his provision to be increased and his lifespan to be extended, let him maintain the ties of kinship.\u201d [Sahih Al-Bukhari]<\/div>\n

Earlier, the Sultanate Council Sokoto had in a statement declared Monday, 19\/June\/2023 as the first day of Dhul-Hijjah 1444 AH.<\/div>\n

Accordingly, Wednesday 28\/June\/2023 will be the day of Eidul Adha 1444 AH.<\/div>\n
