dispatches emergency team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"auto\">Diphtheria Disease: KDSG Alerts Citizens On Outbreak ln Kafanchan<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8230; dispatches emergency team<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Zainab Tanimu<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">Kaduna state government has announced reported cases of outbreak of diphtheria disease in some communities in Kafanchan, Jema\u2019a Local Government Area of Kaduna state.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">The Kaduna State Ministry of Health on Thursday 20th July 2023 confirmed this.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,\u00a0 Muhammad Lawal Shehu and made available to newsmen.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Governor Uba Sani has directed Ministry of Health to send emergency team to investigate cases and take immediate action<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">According to the statement,<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;This confirmation came after several reports were made about residents in Takau Ward, Kafanchan A and Kafanchan B wards, exhibiting symptoms listed as difficulty in breathing, high fever, cough, general body weakness, sore throat, and neck swelling.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Upon learning about the unfortunate loss of lives in the affected communities, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, Governor of Kaduna State immediately directed the Kaduna State Ministry of Health to send an emergency team to investigate these cases.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;A preliminary report from the Ministry revealed that the outbreak of diphtheria in Kafanchan had its first recorded case in the beginning of July, 2023.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Governor Sani, while commending the health officials for their prompt response to the health emergency, urged them to continue to carry out their tasks diligently to ensure that the disease is contained and subsequently eradicated.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">The statement further explained.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;Actions taken by the Ministry so far include the movement of affected cases to adequately equipped hospitals for proper management, active case searches, contact tracing and intensive community sensitization in all affected communities and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8220;In line with these efforts, residents of Kaduna State are advised to take steps to prevent the spread of the disease and protect our communities.\u00a0 Residents should ensure that they:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">-Wash their hands frequently with soap and water.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Avoid close contact with people who are sick.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8211; Cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">\n<p dir=\"auto\">&#8211;
