The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET) has predicted a 48-hr heavy rainfall in Edo, Kwara,\u00a0 Abia, FCT, and 22 other states which it said is likely to start on Thursday.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed Wednesday, in their weekly heavy rainfall forecast report.<\/p>\n

\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Also highlighted is the possibility of flooding in some states.<\/p>\n

It said, \u201cThe affected states are Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Enugu, Delta, Bayelsa, Abia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi, Kwara, and Benue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The bulletin stated, \u201cModerate to heavy rainfall is anticipated between Thursday, September 28th, and Friday, September 29th, 2023, in parts of Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau, Borno, Adamawa, Taraba, Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi, Enugu, Edo, Delta, and Bayelsa.\u201d<\/p>\n

It added, \u201cAbia, Anambra, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi, Kwara, Benue State, and the Federal Capital Territory.\u201d<\/p>\n

On the possibility of the flooding, Kunnengari reports that according to the agency,<\/p>\n

\n
\n
\u201cThe anticipated moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to flash flooding in the affected areas.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n
\n
\n
It also noted that strong winds would accompany the rains, with the most powerful winds expected in parts of Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi States.<\/p>\n

\u00a0NiMet warning the residents ahead, had emphasised on the need for them to exercise caution and avoid driving through surface runoff waters due to their strong undercurrents.<\/p>\n
