Rotary Clubs in Kaduna, on Tuesday, 24th October, 2023 flagged off a free medical outreach.<\/p>\n

According to the District Coordinator for District 9125 Nigeria, Rotary Family Health Days\u2019, (RFHD\u2019s), Grace Sadiku,<\/p>\n

the three days medical outreach which terminated today at Barnawa was meant to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Kaduna Rotary clubs, she said deemed it necessary to help cushion the economic challenges of many Nigerians by assisting the health sector through the provision of free medical services. This is not the first time, she added.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

“Today we are celebrating World Polio Day and we are also flagging off Rotary Family Health Day.<\/p>\n

World Polio Day is celebrated all over the world on the 24th of October, every year. That is why we are going round to sensitize people to bring out their children for vaccination every time we knock on their door.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n
“Rotary is a voluntary organization that takes care of people’s health, that cares about people’s movements, that cares about people’s children. Rotary is the flag bearer of polio.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
I am imploying parents to please bring out their children from zero to 59mts each time we knock on their door for polio vaccine.” She stressed.<\/div>\n

While expressing satisfaction with the\u00a0 turnout at the Kabala Doki and Angwan Shanu primary health centers, she called on pregnant women to take seriously the issue of antenatal for the safety of their unborn child.<\/div>\n

Declaring the exercise open, the Permanent Secretary Kaduna State Ministry of Health, Dr. Aisha Abubakar<\/p>\n

Sadik urged the public to use the opportunity availed them to know their health status.<\/p>\n

She thanked Rotary Club and all the donor partners\u00a0 for their supportive role as the government she said cannot do it alone.<\/p>\n

She noted that much has been recorded in the eradication of polio in the state.<\/p>\n

“In the past years, we recorded only six cases of polio and remarkable advances have been made compared to when we started.<\/p>\n

It is actually a welcome development that we are commemorating the world polio day and a better sense of achievement for us because Nigeria has been certified polo free.”<\/p>\n

Dr. Aisha called on parents to continue utilizing the immunization services and vaccines that are mandatory under the\u00a0 immunization scheme available at every level of government and community in the country.<\/p>\n

“This vaccines have been proven to be effective and have been proven to be potent in protecting our children from vaccine preventable diseases.”<\/p>\n

Lamenting over the outbreak of diphteria disease in Kaduna state, there is need for parents to rise up to their responsibilities by ensuring the well being of\u00a0 their children. She called.<\/p>\n

“Our parents, please let us remember that our children are our trust. What we do to them will come back because they will grow older and will age. So, the mercy we show, the compassion we show now, they will remember how we made them feel, how we treated them.<\/p>\n

“Remember,\u00a0 that child you have in front of you is the hope for your future, for your family and other generations. You are oblige not just legally, but morally and spiritually. Every holy book said children are trust. They are jewels. God gives them to us to guide, in the light. Not just religion but in the light of surviving and being productive. They can only do this if you keep them healthy.<\/p>\n

“Please let’s take care of our children, let’s give them their rights so that our country, our nation and our families will continue to prosper in health and safety.”<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the state coordinator, Family Health Day Programme, Rotarian Juliet Azubike explained that<\/div>\n
the targeted population for the whole exercise is 3 to 5 thousand persons and over one thousand persons per each facility.<\/div>\n

Surprisingly, the turnout\u00a0 she said was massive. The exercise which started in 2013 for the past 2years has been on a yearly basis but now has increased to 3 times a year.<\/div>\n

“Our main goal is to ensure that families\u00a0 know their health status. lf they know their health status, problem will\u00a0 be\u00a0 easier to solve.”<\/div>\n
Azubike called on parents to take advantage of the exercise to know their health status.<\/div>\n

“One of the things Rotary does is giving back to the society.The basic thing you can give back to the society is food and medication and this is what we are doing. We are here today for Rotary Family Health Day.<\/div>\n

Speaking, Chairman\u00a0 Association of Polio\u00a0 Survivor of Nigeria, Kaduna Chapter, Rilwan Muhammed Abdullahi stressing on the importance of the day’s celebration said it has always been an issue in the north when it comes to parents bringing out their children for immunization.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0Rilwan used the occasion to seek parents cooperation in health related issues.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Polio has been an issue particularly in the northern part of Nigeria as parents are reluctant to bring out their children for polio immunization.<\/div>\n

The reason why we are part and parcel of this event is that we happen to be the victims of polio and we know the problems we are encountering as a result of our deformity. This is why we are making our own contributions in terms of sensitization, engaging parents and creating awareness so that our younger ones can be immunized in order not to face the problems we are facing today as a result of our deformity.<\/div>\n

“I am urging our parents to bring their children for immunization. The vaccine has no side effects. Both our traditional and religious scholars have confirmed that.<\/div>\n
Our being here is kind of using ourselves as example. We are victims of polio, this is why we joined the campaign to create awareness. Sensitizing the public on the effects of polio.<\/div>\n
There is this issue of rejection but we will not be tired. We will continue to campaign until people understand the importance of polio vaccine.<\/div>\n

Sarkin Kabala, Danlami Bawa expressed joy for bringing the medical services to the doorsteps of his people.<\/div>\n

He called on parents to always access opportunities of this nature because health is wealth.<\/div>\n
