Experts on Thursday met in Kaduna to<\/p>\n

chart way forward towards<\/p>\n

sustainable production and consumption of polymeric materials in the country.<\/p>\n

The researchers in the production and distribution of the products who met at the 5th International Conference had during the technical session tried to<\/p>\n

proffer far-reaching solutions capable of impacting a brighter and sustainable future for the industry in Nigeria and beyond.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

The Technical Conference,\u00a0 33rd of its kind to be hosted in Nigeria, drew experts\u00a0 from various research institutes, manufacturing and distribution industries such as; Polymer Institute of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Leather and Science Technology, Raw Material Research and Development Council, Kaduna State University among others.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

President Polymer Institute of Nigeria, Professor Emmanuel Osabohien, had in his address acknowledged some challenges associated with the business of polymer in Nigeria which are traced to technical, mechanical and economic constraints.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

However,\u00a0 he expressed optimism in a brighter future if younger generations of scientists and technologists were inculcated with advanced technology and expertise adequately by veterans in the field so they could take over from the older crops for Sustainability.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Professor informed that the institute since it came into being in 1991 had led and spearheaded a number of research around cutting edge technology which according to him, gave birth to innovation and modern ideas of polymer and associated materials.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Osabohien drawing the attention of stakeholders in the industry to environmental hazards posed by irresponsible usage of polymeric Materials, the scientist enjoined the conference attendees to be advocate of decent and eco-friendly production and consumption of polymer materials.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The host of the conference and Vice chancellor of Kaduna State University, Professor Abdullahi Musa pointed out that the industry was in need of innovative ideas and result oriented approach in order to outwit potential competitors and stand the test of time.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n

The university don in his goodwill message on behalf of the State Governor, Uba Sani expressed optimism in a positive future and assured stakeholders of a friendly environment in Kaduna State where polymeric manufacturing and production would thrive.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Chairman of the occasion, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. H.D. Ibrahim in his remarks urged stakeholders to explore latest trend in polymer research and development, this according to him would keep them afloat and ahead of their peers in other climes.<\/div>\n

While calling for commitment to sustainability, Prof. Ibrahim charged researchers and manufacturers of polymeric materials to ensure products shunned out to the consumers aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the unique opportunity of interfacing with experts from across the globe to share meaningful insights and foster collaborations that would foster a prosperous future for polymeric materials.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He revealed that the institute under his administration had initiated a competition among Polymer researchers in the country where best three researchers were given awards to encourage Innovation and ingenuity.<\/div>\n

Meanwhile, the Technical Director and General Manager, Hassan Plastics Industries Limited, Chief Alexander Oommen who delivered a key note address at the occasion drew the attention of participants to the challenges in the Polymer Industries in the global industries.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Supporting his Presentation with statistics of other climes,\u00a0 Alexander urged experts in Nigeria to take advantage of the trend of the technological developments in India and other countries in advancing growth in the country\u2019s Polymer Industry.<\/div>\n
