This call was made at the just concluded 24th NASFAT Annual Women’s Week Celebration which ran through the week.<\/div>\n

The one week celebration marked simultaneously in all NASFAT branches worldwide gathered a large turnout of people at NASFAT Doka Branch Kaduna.<\/div>\n

The Guest Speaker, Dr. Fati Bakare delivering her lecture on the theme titled, “Sustaining Happiness in Marriage –\u00a0 Islamic Perspective drew the attention of couples and the “would – be” to the importance of laying a solid foundation at the early part of their marriage. Reason being that it is the time, the love blossoms.<\/div>\n

The wife she advised should use the first 6months to 2yrs to work hard in sustaining her marriage. It is a critical period therefore, should increase her lbadah (worship). Commiting her affairs to Allah for guidance.<\/div>\n

“The first two years of marriage is the time couples should mold their marriage so that they can have an everlasting love between them. (husband and wife). This goes to our daughters too.”<\/div>\n

Dr. Bakare who is also a guidance and counseling officer, stressed the importance of mutual trust, love and understanding in a marriage.<\/div>\n

Saying, the presence of these three attributes will bring about peace in a home thereby sustaining the marriage.<\/div>\n

Lamenting on the decline in moral values with the advent of all manners of negative things learnt from the social media, much she said need to be done to put the children on the right track.<\/div>\n

“These luxuries are shaping our homes negatively. What we watch affect our homes. We no longer read but always watch films that have negative tendencies.<\/div>\n

“Let’s teach our children the way of Allah.<\/div>\n
It is only the fear of Allah that will not make you do what you are not supposed to do.” She sounded.<\/div>\n

Dr. Fati stressed on the importance of parents counseling their children particularly their daughters before marriage because marriage is not bed of roses.<\/div>\n

Caution should be taken on the choice of a life partner because it is not all that glitters that is gold. She warmed.<\/div>\n

The learned scholar charged Muslim societies to create guidance and counselling unit in their various organizations to help in educating Muslim ummah on ways to go about sustaining their marriages. Not only that, should also serve as a platform to educate our children going into marriage.<\/div>\n

You have to be patient with them. Alhamdulllah, we were able to understand ourselves, work together to achieve success.<\/div>\n

“I will also want to appeal to the women, our mothers that they should at this trying period be more patient with their husbands. They are going through a lot of challenges because of the economy situation.”<\/div>\n
