Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan has declared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be personally responsible for the deaths in the besieged Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\u201cNetanyahu, who committed one of the greatest atrocities of the last century, has already gone down in history as the butcher of Gaza,\u201d Erdo\u011fan told his ruling party members in parliament in Ankara.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

Such a \u201cstain\u201d is not only on Netanyahu but also on those who supported him \u201cunconditionally,\u201d the Turkish leader added.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

Mr Erdo\u011fan said the Israeli government\u2019s statements do not indicate that a current truce will lead to a long-term ceasefire.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

Netanyahu on Tuesday reiterated his government\u2019s goal is to destroy Hamas\u2019 leadership and military capabilities as soon as the ceasefire ends.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

More than 14,800 people have died in the Gaza Strip and around 36,000 have been injured in Israeli bombardments, according to Hamas.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

Another 7,000 are considered missing.<\/p>\n

The numbers cannot be independently verified, however, the United Nations and other observers point out that the Gaza authorities\u2019 figures have proven to be credible in the past.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

\n

Israel attacked Gaza following a rampage by Hamas militants and others which killed more than 1,200 people on Oct. 7 in Israeli communities near the border with the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n

\n

\n

\n

Hamas also abducted around 240 hostages from Israel to the strip.<\/p>\n
