The Nigerian Labour Congress NLC \u00a0has called on the Federal Government to do the needful by honoring the tripartite agreement reached on\u00a0 with regards to the payment \u00a0of the \u00a0N30,000 new minimum wage to Nigerian workers.<\/p>\n
The President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Ayuba Wabba has reiterated the union\u2019s stand saying, anything short of that would lead to \u00a0shut-down of the nation. No going back on its proposed nationwide strike meant to commence on the 6th<\/sup> of November if demand is not met by the federal government. It said.<\/p>\n Also stated, he said non-compliance by government to pay the stated amount of N30,000 minimum wage would lead to non- participation of Nigerian workers in the fort-coming 2019 general elections.<\/p>\n Workers across the country came \u00a0out to demonstrate their concern on the need for government expidiating action \u00a0to effecting the payment of the new minimum wage. They argued that by Nigerian constitution workers\u2019 salaries is expected to be reviewed within 5yrs. Any governor that refuses to comply therefore \u00a0should resign.<\/p>\n Political office holders in Nigeria are said to be the highest paid in the world while the Nigerian workers are left with the meager minimum wage of N18, 000.
