In a groundbreaking move towards enhancing maternal and child healthcare in Kaduna State, the Caleb Danladi Foundation has forged a strategic collaboration with the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA).<\/p>\n
This was made possible through a productive meeting between the Foundation and the Director General, KADCHMA, Abubakar Hassan and management team.<\/p>\n
The founder, Celeb Danladi, Foundation, Capt. Celeb Danladi Bako, a Master Mariner is one person whose passion has always been that of ensuring better condition for the less privileged, particularly that of mother and child.<\/p>\n
In this piece, he opens up on the outcome of the meeting, his dream for the foundation, and way forward.<\/p>\n
Excerpts:<\/p>\n
According to him,<\/p>\n
“The focus of the collaboration is to address the pressing healthcare needs of mothers and children in rural areas, where access to quality healthcare services can be limited.<\/p>\n
The Foundation, as part of the initiative he said has committed to enrolling 100 women for a pilot scheme set to take place in various locations across Kaduna State.<\/p>\n
“The pilot scheme aims to provide essential healthcare services to pregnant women and young children, with a specific emphasis on reducing maternal mortality rates. By leveraging the resources and expertise of both the Caleb Danladi Foundation and KADCHMA.<\/p>\n
This collaborative effort seeks to make a meaningful impact on the lives of women and children in underserved communities.<\/p>\n
In lieu of the above, the founder<\/p>\n
and CEO of the Foundation,\u00a0 Mr. Celeb Danladi Bako and his team on Monday, 29th, January , 2024 were at the DG KADCHMA’s office on a fact finding mission with a view to complementing government’s efforts.<\/p>\nCapt. The Director General of the State government Agency, Abubakar Hassan in his appreciation said \u201cWe\u2019re happy with Caleb foundation\u2019s CEO today who has come on fact finding mission visit to support what government is doing and compliment the effort of government in community in Kaduna state in health care services.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re glad that the well to do and kind hearted individuals are coming to give back to the people in the community, in helping the government to reduce maternal and child mortality which is still high in Kaduna state.<\/div>\n

\u201cHelping to address pregnant women and child birth issue, for those who cannot afford it. This is highly commendable.<\/div>\n

He called on other well to do indigene of<\/div>\n
Kaduna state who are politicians, businessmen and professionals to emulate Caleb Danladi Foundation\u2019s gesture.<\/div>\n
<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Agency\u2019s Head of Admin and Finance, Suleiman Mustapha briefed the foundation\u2019s CEO on the working of the health scheme, adding that the health benefit package is financed from contributions made by interested individuals or family.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to Mustapha, contribution rates for individual subscriber ranged from N10, 477 per annum (N873 per month); N57,935 per annum as family contribution (N4,820 per months) for four biological related person amongst others.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Some of the primary care benefit package includes providing package to enrollee by the primary care facilities with physical services, in patients services, diagnostic lab test among others.<\/div>\n
Caleb Danladi expressing gratitude for the partnership said.<\/p>\n
“We are thrilled to work hand-in-hand with KADCHMA to address the healthcare challenges faced by mothers and children in rural Kaduna. Our joint efforts will play a pivotal role in improving access to quality healthcare and reducing maternal mortality in the state.”<\/p>\n

The collaboration signifies a shared commitment to the well-being of communities in Kaduna State, with a focus on sustainable healthcare solutions.<\/p>\n
Both organizations are optimistic about the positive outcomes that this partnership will yield, setting a precedent for impactful collaborations in the broader context of healthcare provision.<\/p>\n

While at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat Kaduna with his team, after intimating them on the discussion held with the DG KADCHMA, Captain Celeb Danladi spoke on maternal mortality rate related issues which he explained has been the reason for the collaboration.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
“What we discussed is how we will be able to support people in the village to key into this contributory KADCHMA insurance scheme.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
My foundation has taken it as a mandate to enrol a number of less privileged particularly women and children.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“If you look at child mortality rate, a lot of women tend to die during giving birth. The reason is that they don’t have access to those basic health care that will be able to take care of mother and child during pregnancy.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So part of my discussion with the DG is to collaborate, to look at how we can be able to come in to support those less privileged particularly in the rural areas.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The project is going to start in Jaba local government which is going to be pilot local government for the project and gradually is going to extend to other parts of Kaduna state. The scheme is\u00a0 going to cut across the state.” He said.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Responding to the issue of insecurity vis- a- vis the successful implementation of the project, he said.<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“We are mindful of the fact that some local governments have some security challenges. When the project starts, we will see how we are going to reach out to them.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Jaba is just a pilot project. Other LGs are going to benefit because it is going to cut across the three senatorial zones in Kaduna state and the DG is aware of this.<\/div>\n

“I appreciate the DG because on his part, he basically stressed the need to support mother and child health care system in Kaduna state which we also agree with him, and also appreciate KADCHMA for what they are doing in terms of contributory health insurance scheme where this health insurance scheme is being brought to the grassroot. To the villages and rural areas that do not have access to this type of scheme.<\/div>\n

Asked after appreciating his good work, his reason behind the concentration on the vulnerable in the society? He has this to say.<\/strong><\/div>\n

“I set up this NGO as a registered NGO in 2014, but before then, l have been doing a lot of things for the community.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“I actually grew up in a rural area and growing up as a child l have seen the way people have passed through a lot. A lot of children have to struggle through life to be able to go to school. A lot of issues in terms of health care, they are not able to provide basic amenities. So growing up, l have this passion to be able to see how l can be able to address some of these challenges. Not all of the challenges but l should be able to address part of these challenges as my contribution to the society. Not only the community l come from, but the entire society.<\/div>\n

And the inspiration, where did it come from and what is your dream in the next 5yrs?<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

“My inspiration, where it comes from?<\/div>\n
It is basically driven by my passion for humanity. I have seen what people have passed through. Though, l cannot change the entire system but l am trying to see how l can be able to make life a bit better and meaningful for the less privileged so that in the future, they can be able to say, okay, this person has supported me, l should be able to support others because life is a world where we can be able to support people.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
You know, you cannot do things alone. It takes a lot of efforts, team work and collaboration to be able to do it.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“As for our projection, looking at our project, in the past, l have supported communities because l focus also on child education. The thing is, most of the children in rural areas, is not only the financial issues that is their problem but they lack guidance. If you don’t have guidance, somebody to guide you, you can’t go anywhere.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Basically, we have a short term goal and short term goal that we intend to achieve. So, in the short term period, we tend to break it down on a year by year basis and then we start. In January for instance, we plan we are going to support students across the 23LG areas of Kaduna state. That is one of our short term goal.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Though we have supported them in the past, some of the members, we should be able to give them partial scholarships. Is one of our medium goals because it is not coming right away. But for the long term goal, we tend to look at community development in a broader perspective.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“We tend to take this NGO to a higher level. Higher level means it is not going to be limited to Kaduna alone. It is going to go across the country. So, that will take a lot of efforts, a lot of financial efforts and collaboration with stakeholders.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
So, looking at the health care, is a pilot program we are going to test and it is something that we intend to sustain for a longer period of time, as long as the NGO exists, we will continue to support mother and child issues because if you look at it, a lot of women are dying from childbirth so, if we don’t try to cut down the number, we will wake up one day and we will not even have a society with people. So, that is one of our primary focus.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“So, it is more of a long term goal that we try to project the future. So, that is why we are going into mother and child issues.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“And we intend to have a project also that is going to deal with community development. Community development in such a way that we will identify communities that are in need and to be able to see if we can be able to have some projects in that community. Like provision of water to those communities, and renovation of some schools in those communities. So, those are what we intend to do in a long run.<\/div>\n
