As the world marks International Women’s Day, Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF) joins the global community to celebrate the achievements and relentless contributions of women in advocating for gender equality and women’s rights towards the realization of sustainable development.<\/p>\n

This year’s theme, \u201cInvest in women: Accelerate Progress\u201d, highlights the significance of women\u2019s inclusion in driving the economy and growth of any society as a matter of urgency. Investing in women is not just a matter of equality; it’s an investment in the future of our societies and economies; by accelerating progress towards gender equality and empowering women, we can unlock the full potential of half of the world’s population and drive positive change across all sectors.<\/p>\n

AMDF, recognizing the achievements and potentials of women had in a statement signed by the Executive Director, Sekyen Dadik, called for a renew commitment to invest in gender equity and women’s rights globally.<\/p>\n

“This day is a reminder of the importance of creating an inclusive and equitable world where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive and reach her full potential.<\/p>\n

“AMDF remains committed to championing gender equality and women’s empowerment as fundamental principles for building a more just, inclusive, and sustainable world. Through our programs, initiatives, and partnerships, we strive to create a future where every woman and girl can live free from discrimination, violence, and injustice.<\/p>\n

“To accelerate progress, we must prioritize investments in women’s education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and leadership development by:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensuring equal access to quality education and skills training for girls and women.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Investing in women’s health and reproductive rights, including access to family planning and maternal healthcare.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Promoting women’s economic empowerment through entrepreneurship support, access to finance, and fair labor practices.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Breaking down barriers to women’s leadership and political participation through mentorship programs, and policy reforms.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Challenging harmful gender norms and stereotypes that perpetuate inequality and discrimination.<\/p>\n
