The Senator representing Kaduna Central at the Upper Chambers, Senator Shehu Sani \u00a0has formerly flagged-off\u00a0 his campaign for re-election come 2019 polls.<\/p>\n
Senator Shehu Sani many have described as a man of the people. One whose re-election would not only ginger good things for his constituency but would serve as another opportunity for him to further actualize his dream \u00a0of putting smiles on the faces of the common man.<\/p>\n
Suffices to say the vibrant and foresighted lawmaker in his three and half years in the senate had been a force to be reckoned with. \u00a0He had remained the voice of the voiceless and the oppressed. If re-elected, the people of Kaduna Central he has promised to take to a higher level as he would ensure the passage of bills and motions that would positively impact on their lives. His change to a new party, the \u2018People Redemption Party\u2019, (PRP) would be of no hindrance. \u00a0He assured.<\/p>\n
This was made known to journalists at the NUJ Kaduna Council Secretariat when he trooped in with his train of campaign supporters as a way of formerly notifying the press.<\/p>\n
“I have formerly flagged-off my campaign for re-election. I am coming from the venue of the lodge of former governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Balarabe Musa and l am here to make my intention known.”<\/p>\n
The seat in the senate he emphasized is for serious minded people who have the love of their people at heart.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor the past three and a half years, l played the role of a force for freedom and a voice for the oppressed for the people of Kaduna Central. You don\u2019t need to stay so long in the parliament for you to make your impact felt. I represented you to the best of my ability. The parliament is one of the most important institutions of government that needs people with the capacity, with the vision with the intellect and with the independent mindset of being able to speak and stand for the very issues that are important to their people.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy bid to seek for re-election is to continue to defend your socio-economic and political interest. To present bills and motions that are in tandem with your social, cultural and political interest. I would be able to stand for you. I would be able to speak for you.<\/p>\n
\u201cKaduna Central Senatorial District is not for sale. You need senators who would speak for you, who would stand for you and who would defend you.\u00a0 You don\u2019t need stooges as senators, you don\u2019t need pupils as senators and you don\u2019t need puppets as senators.<\/p>\n
He said even though his party the PRP has no might and the resources of the APC and PDP it is powered by the strength of their conviction and faith.<\/p>\n
For him, he would continue to fight for the cause of his people. His new party, PRP he had described as party of honor and integrity and that he would continue to remain the voice of the voiceless and the oppressed.<\/p>\n
The Senate is a place for serious business as such needs people who know their salts. He stressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe senate should not be a retirement home for former governors. It should not be a pensioner\u2019s station and it should not be a reward for loyalists. The senate should not be a place for thugs.<\/p>\n
The lawmaker had decried the state of affairs in Kaduna state which he said needs both spiritual and political deliverance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am saying it clearly that the people of Kaduna state need both spiritual and political deliverance. The people of Kaduna need freedom. The people of Kaduna need a representation that is unwavering that would stand for them in the darkest of the night and the brightest of the morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike l always say, Kaduna is a multi -religious and multi-ethnic. You don\u2019t need a divisive leader. You don\u2019t need a religious champion and you don\u2019t need one who would expose your differences, and you don\u2019t need one who would continue to use the policy of divide and rule on all. The APC in Kaduna state has failed.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has failed to live up to the expectations of the people that elected it into office. It has failed to serve as a beacon of hope. It has also failed to serve as a ship that would deliver into the promise land.<\/p>\n
He advised Nigerians to guide against being deceived by politicians and not to sell their votes but to use it to choose leaders who are endowed with milk of human kindness. Leaders that can take them to the promise land.<\/p>\n
The PRP party the senator informed has no Presidential candidate of their own. \u00a0The party therefore allows its members to choose any of the presidential candidates they so wish.\u00a0 \u201cI have decided to join PRP because it is in tandem with my socialist ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n
Answering question as to his choice of presidential candidate since his party has none; he said his choice would be known at the polling booth come 2019 election. He however praised the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari for some of the recorded achievements made in some areas but that there was the need to focus on sector such as power.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuhari is a good man and an honest man but leadership requires more than a saint especially a nation that is demanding of a pro-active leadership and a nation that is facing series of challenges. It is not enough to have a leader that is honest and sincere.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou need to have a leader that is surrounded by honest people and sincere people. You need to have a leader that understands the complexity and challenges of a society and to be able to address it. The government of the day has failed in a lot of ways but they have also achieved in number of areas.<\/p>\n
Recorded achievements such as completion of projects; giving this country a good name in terms of our image. Efforts are also being appreciated on the economy and we have also seen how the government has achieved in terms of the issue of the railways but when it comes to the issue of power and other things, then we have problems with that.\u201d He said.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the issue of the media, Senator Sani had lamented on the way and manner in which journalists are being treated. Special reference was made to that of Kaduna state where members were arrested and even imprisoned by the state in the course of discharging their duties.<\/p>\n
Media he said is a respectable profession and should be seen as such. Practitioners should be allowed to practice their profession without intimidations. He urged.<\/p>\n
He charged journalists to stay fair and firm in the discharge of their duties and should not violate the ethics of their profession to favor anyone. The Media must not be caged. He emphasized.<\/p>\n
With the 2019 election just by the corner, the lawmaker urged the electorates to shine their eyes and choose credible people to represent them. \u201cThe politics of sugar, bread and butter would not deliver you\u201d. He cautioned.<\/p>\n
Nigeria he said is transiting to a new phase in its history as such should make the right choice saying, the next election would determine the future of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cNigeria is transiting to a new phase in its history. This is the time for people to make decisions and make their choices. Choices that would define their parts; \u00a0choices that would define their future and choices that would define the future of their country.<\/p>\n
We are moving to a new phase in our lives. The choice in 2019 is between bondage and freedom, between dignity and humiliation and between the past and the future. The people have a choice to either elect to be out of Egypt or remain with the Pharaoh.<\/p>\n
\u201cUse your card to remove the toxic elements in government and restore people who treat you with honor and dignity and if otherwise, the mistakes and consequences are your own.\u201d\u00a0 He warned.<\/p>\n
