The Kaduna state government in his bid to enhancing the civil service has organized a 2day capacity building workshop for\u00a0Ministries, Departments & Agencies (MDAs) across the state.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The on going workshop which is for staff officers and principal administrative officers in the civil service taking place<\/div>\n
\u00a0at Mole Suite has over 300 participants drawn from over 100 MDAs in the state.<\/div>\n

The office of the head of service Kaduna state disclosed this to newsmen today during the workshop.<\/div>\n

The Head of Service, Kaduna state, Hajiya Habiba Shekarau in her opening remarks, before declaring the workshop open explained the significance of the training organized by her office which she said will help to enhance the civil service.<\/div>\n

She commended governor Uba Sani’s efforts and dedication to seeing a vibrant civil service.<\/div>\n

to Senator Uba Sani, the Governor of Kaduna State. His Excellency’s support and dedication to the civil service have made initiatives like this possible. It is through his visionary leadership that we convene here today, united in our shared pursuit of a more efficient and effective public service.”<\/div>\n

“Ladies and Gentlemen, the objectives of this workshop are multi-faceted<\/div>\n

She urged the participants to give their all as the interactive session will proffer them the opportunity to upgrade themselves.<\/div>\n

It will foster a culture of ethical conduct and integrity among civil servants as it\u00a0 emphasizes the importance of upholding the high standards of professionalism and accountability. She stressed.<\/div>\n

“It will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate administrative processes and procedures effectively; streamline<\/div>\n
workflows, and improving service delivery. Will provide you with insights into disciplinary processes procedures in the public service.<\/div>\n

“Also, it will enhance your understanding of best practices in management, ensuring the efficient organization, storage, retrieval of vital government information in our offices.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Hajiya Habiba emphasizing while fielding questions from journalists, shortly after her speech added that the capacity building in administrative procedures\u00a0 will not only remind them of the rudiments of administration but also will equip them on needed techniques in handling and translating government policies.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“We need to remind them to understand all the rudiments of administration.<\/div>\n
We want to ensure that we have<\/div>\n
civil servants that are adequately trained. We want to ensure that their capabilities are built so that they will understand the policies of the government and be able to translate the policies of the government better.”<\/div>\n

Presenting his paper titled, “Record Keeping And Information Management ln The Public Service”, the Resource person, Alhaji Musa Abdulwahab Muhammad, a retired civil servant from Kaduna state said the workshop aside upgrading civil servants’ knowledge will also remind them of what they know.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“A workshop of this nature is always required because it tells participants what they know. Reminding them of what they know and what they don’t know.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

“The workshop is intended to improve their capacities to deliver what the government desires. The paper is intended to tell them how they keep their records safely without any problems and how they are required to retrieve when there is need for retrieval of any such records.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
The presenter speaking on secrecy in public service, had lamented the way and manner secret documents are being handled in offices whereby messengers\u00a0 are entrusted with such documents. A practice which never\u00a0 existed during their own time.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He charged officers to be more discreet in the way and manner they handle such files.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“You see secrecy is an issue that is very important and very dangerous because sometimes what we discover is that civil servants use to prempt government policies. Information of top secret are leaked out before officially announced.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“What if the government decides to change the policy? So we told\u00a0 them, that this is wrong. You don’t prempt until when you are given the privilege or opportunity to inform,\u00a0 that this, what the government wants or not want before you say something.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“While we are expecting government to work for us let’s do our bids but that not withstanding, government should carry out their responsibilities and us, should do our own. He stressed.<\/div>\n

One of the participants Mr. Augustine Amusco Abui, staff of ministry of public works and infrastructure commending the initiative said the workshop is important to the civil servants as it will go a long way in improving their service delivery thereby enhancing the civil service.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0Augustine, expressing concern on the need for adequate infrastructures said the issue of manpower remains fundamental. He called on the government to address it the individual sacrifices not withstanding. He gave examples of departments in his\u00a0 ministry that are understaffed which he said does not augur well for the optima performance of the ministry.<\/div>\n

Also speaking, Mrs. Naye Dauda\u00a0 from the office of the head of service Kaduna state described the workshop as very key to the development of civil servants in Kaduna state.<\/div>\n
This she said will enhance their skills.<\/div>\n
“This kind of training from time to time will keep the civil servants alert and always remind us of our schedules and what we need to do in the service to make it better.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
