The nationwide peaceful protest which started as early as 8am today across the states has turned violent in some states as hoodlums have succeeded in\u00a0 hijacking the situation.\u00a0 A fear that had earlier been nursed.<\/p>\n

Borno state government and Kano state both have imposed 24hrs curfew to avoid further violence.<\/p>\n

Borno State Government has announced an immediate 24-hour curfew across the state.<\/div>\n

This is in response to the tragic detonation of an improvised explosive device in Kawori Market, Konduga area of Borno State on Wednesday night.<\/div>\n

The explosion suspected to be carried out by a Boko Haram suicide bomber resulted in the deaths of 16 individuals and critical injuries to several others.<\/div>\n

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, disclosed this in a press release on Thursday.<\/div>\n

Titled, \u201cImposition of Curfew,\u201d, the statement noted that the bomb explosion prompted Governor Babagana Zulum, to consult with top security officials before implementing this measure.<\/div>\n

Governor Abba Yusuf, who announced the imposition of the curfew shortly, after nationwide protest in Kano said the curfew was with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

Thugs and hoodlums he regretted have embarked on looting of business premises, government properties and maiming of innocent citizens.<\/div>\n

\u201cAfter exhaustive deliberations during Emergency State Security council meeting, it was collectively decided that 24-hour curfew should be put in place to prevent further looting and vandalization of shops including indiscriminate killing and maiming of innocent citizens.\u201d<\/div>\n

The Command\u2019s Spokesman, ASP Mansir Hassan made this known on Thursday, noting that some of the apprehended individuals are members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN).<\/div>\n
