A statement issued today, 1st October, 2024, by the National Public Relation Secretary, Alhaji Shamsideen Owolabi Oseni and made available to newsmen reads:<\/p>\n

“On behalf of NASFAT stakeholders and members worldwide, Alliamudulilahi Robilialameen. I extend our heartiest Independence Day greetings to Nigerians, celebrating 64 years of nationhood.<\/p>\n

“The sight of the Green-White-Green flag flying across the country fills our hearts with pride. It represents the unity of over 250 million Nigerians coming together as one great nation.<\/p>\n

“On October 1st, Nigerians at home and abroad participate in flag-hoisting, patriotic songs, and cultural events. The enthusiasm of our children reminds us of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters, linking our past to the future.<\/p>\n

“The celebration however calls for reflection, he said.<\/p>\n

“As we celebrate, we must reflect: Is Nigeria truly on the path of progress after 64 years? Each of our past leaders must be held accountable for their contributions towards the nation\u2019s prosperity.<\/p>\n

“We humbly acknowledge our role in the nation’s history. We salute the brave souls who fought for our independence, awakening Nigeria\u2019s spirit after years of foreign rule and leading us to our current state.<\/p>\n

“Pioneers like Tafawa Balewa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo unified Nigeria\u2019s diverse traditions, laying the foundation for the nation we celebrate today.<\/p>\n

“Great Nigerian leaders have shaped Nigeria\u2019s political landscape. Their contributions are now being appreciated in our collective memory.<\/p>\n

“The message while calling for peaceful and continuous collaboration in keeping the nation united is not unaware of the nation’s present economic challenges as it calls on those in authority to do the needful to address the current hardship faced by the citizenry.<\/p>\n

“As we celebrate 64 years of independence, we acknowledge the economic challenges ahead. Citizens face hardships, and leaders must urgently implement reforms like cost-cutting in governance and promoting mechanized farming to support growth.<\/p>\n

“Nigeria\u2019s leadership must strategize to uplift the nation, ensuring that justice, equality, and liberty remain the guiding principles that will help Nigeria reclaim its position on the global stage.<\/p>\n
