Kaduna WEE Policy Lunch: Use\u00a0 ‘WEE Policy’ Window to Better Your Lots – Commissioner Charges Women<\/p>\n

The Commissioner, Ministry of Human Services, And Social Development, hajiya Rabi Salisu has called on women to use the window provided by the “WEE policy document (Women Economic Empowerment policy) launched on Friday to better their lots.<\/p>\n

She made this call in her welcome address during the Women Economic Empowerment Summit and Policy Launch held on\u00a0 the 22nd of November, 2024 at Yar’adua Hall,\u00a0 Murtala Muhammad Square, Kaduna.<\/p>\n

Speaking,<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

“I am honoured to stand before you today on the momentous occasion of the Women Economic Empowerment Summit and launch of three policy documents that would serve as guides in our journey towards the upliftment of the condition of women in Kaduna State.<\/p>\n

“The gender sensitive and pro-poor administration of Governor Uba Sani is committed to unlocking the potentials of women. It recognizes the fact that women\u2019s economic exclusion is a significant obstacle to growth and\u00a0 sustainable development. The government is therefore creating an environment where women can thrive and contribute their\u00a0 quota to the economic development of the State without constraints.<\/p>\n

The commissioner identified areas of concerns needed to be looked into in order to break barriers militating against needed progress.<\/p>\n

“In trying to break down barriers faced by women in economic activities in order to\u00a0 achieve women\u2019s economic empowerment, we must address the systemic gaps that hinder their progress. These barriers include:<\/p>\n

– Lack of Access to Education and Skills Acquisition Training<\/p>\n

-Lack of skills and knowledge necessary to compete in the job\/ labor market.<\/p>\n

-Lack of access to finance and inclusion in financial services, especially in digital transactions\u00a0 which will enhance women\u2019s equal access to credit, loans, and other financial resources.<\/p>\n

– Flexible work arrangements that will support and encourage the development of women \u2013 led businesses, to adopt flexible work policies that support work-life balance.<\/p>\n

“The three policy documents we are launching today are: the Women Economic Empowerment Policy, Women Peace and Security Action Plan, and Youth Peace and Security Action Plan. We must encourage women -led businesses to adopt inclusive policies, especially with the Launch of our 3 policy documents today. Implementation of these policies will foster women\u2019s leadership and entrepreneurship skills and development.<\/p>\n

“I urge all our\u00a0 critical stakeholders to join us in our efforts to empower women economically through the implementation of these policies. Let us work together to create a society where women have equal opportunities to succeed and contribute to the economy. We owe it to ourselves, our communities, and our future generations to unlock the full potentials of women.<\/p>\n

“We deeply appreciate our dear Governor and his Deputy for honouring us with their distinguished presence. We thank our development partners and stakeholders for their continued assistance and encouragement. We thank everyone who found time to be here. Today is the start of a journey towards women’s economic empowerment. It is a collective journey for the betterment of our state. I wish us fruitful deliberations.”<\/p>\n

The Executive Governor of Kaduna state, Senator Uba Sani declared the event open.<\/p>\n

Present To add impetus to the event was the deputy governor, Her Excellency, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe.<\/p>\n

Also present to witness the launch were the Speaker, Kaduna State House of Assembly, the Secretary to the Government, Chief of Staff,Members of the Kaduna State Executive Council, Development Partners and other distinguished guests.<\/p>\n

It was a memorable day for the women of Kaduna state as they celebrated what they described as moment of a new dawn, giving kudos to Kaduna state government and commissioner, human services and Social Development, for championing the course.<\/p>\n
