Ramadan is one of the most important months to Muslims. It is a time of increased worship, spiritual cleansing, good deeds and acts of charity. In light of Allah\u2019s love and mercy towards us, the reward for every good deed in Ramadan is multiplied by 70.<\/p>\n

Why Are the Last 10 Days So Important?<\/p>\n

The last ten days are a time for reflection, introspection, and seeking forgiveness from Allah for past sins and shortcomings.<\/p>\n

During this period, the believers strive to devote themselves to prayers and recitation of the Qur’an to please Allah (SWT). It is a chance for every Muslim to have their sins forgiven and become closer to Allah (SWT) \u2013 it is a time for spiritual healing.<\/div>\n

In a hadith, the Prophet (SAW) said, \u201cSeek it in the last ten days of Ramadan, when there are nine days left, and seven days left, and five days left.\u201d (Narrated by al-Bukhari, 4\/260). This tells the believers how to recognise Laylat al-Qadr from the other 10 nights.<\/div>\n

Many Muslims at this period choose to spend the last ten days in seclusion (i’tikaf) in a mosque, focusing on worship and seeking closeness to Allah.<\/div>\n

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) would perform i’tikaf in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan, emphasizing the importance of this time for worship and seeking closeness to Allah.<\/div>\n

Lady A\u2019ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: \u201cThe Prophet (pbuh) would exert his best (in worship) during the last 10 days (of Ramadan) more than at other times.\u201d [Muslim]<\/div>\n

Muslims believe that prayers and deeds performed during the last ten days, especially on Laylat al-Qadr, are more likely to be accepted by Allah.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
This night of Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree or Night of Power, is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar. It was the night in which the holy Qur\u2019an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Allah says in the Qur\u2019an, \u201cThe Night of Decree is better than a thousand months,\u201d (Qur\u2019an, 97:3).\u00a0 This means that when a good deed is performed on Laylatul Qadr, it is as if that deed has been performed for more than 1,000 months.<\/div>\n

This night, believed to fall within the last 10 odd-numbered nights of Ramadan (21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, or 29th). This night is believed to be a night of great blessings and forgiveness and also believed to be the night in which Allah shows great mercy to His creation and the night in which one\u2019s fate is decreed.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Muslims are encouraged to increase their worship in this holy month, give generously to charity (sadaqa) as it is believed that acts of charity are especially rewarded during Ramadan.<\/p>\n

The rewards of giving sadaqa during Ramadan are multiplied by 70 and the reward for any righteous act during Laylatul Qadr is equivalent to having performed the same act for over 83 years!<\/div>\n

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said \u201cSadaqa extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire,\u201d (Hadith, Tirmidhi). He also said that Allah offers relief on the Day of Judgement for those who give sadaqa: \u201cThe believer\u2019s shade on the Day of Resurrection will be their charity,\u201d (Hadith, Tirmidhi).<\/div>\n
