The Last Fajr: When Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani\u2019s Voice Became His Final Call<\/p>\n

There are voices that simply speak, voices that command attention, and then there are voices that become woven into the spiritual memories of millions.<\/p>\n
For worshippers at Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah, the voice of Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Al-Madani was one of them.<\/p>\n
For years, his melodious Adhan rose from the Sacred Mosque, carrying the timeless call to prayer across the Haram and into the hearts and homes of Muslims around the world.<\/p>\n
But on Monday, September 21, 2026, something profoundly moving happened.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Ibrahim gave what would become his final Fajr Adhan at Masjid Al-Haram. Hours later, the senior muezzin passed away at the age of 51.<\/p>\n
The man who had spent much of his life calling others to stand before Allah had himself answered a call that no human being can refuse.<\/p>\n
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.<\/p>\n
Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.<\/p>\n
Born in Madinah in 1976, Sheikh Ibrahim grew up in a religious environment. His grandfather was a memoriser of the Qur’an, and the influence of the Qur’an and the Adhan surrounded him from his early years.<\/p>\n
His journey as a muezzin began remarkably early. At just 15, he started calling the Adhan at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah.<\/p>\n
What began as the responsibility of a young boy would eventually lead him to the most sacred mosque in Islam.<\/p>\n
After years of serving at local mosques, Sheikh Ibrahim was appointed a muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in 1439 AH, corresponding to 2017\u20132018.<\/p>\n
There, his voice became part of the daily spiritual rhythm of Makkah.<\/p>\n
He was among the principal muezzins of the Grand Mosque, entrusted not only with delivering the Adhan but also with performing the Takbeers and relaying the Imam’s Takbeers during congregational prayers.<\/p>\n
For millions who may never have met him, his voice was nevertheless familiar.<\/p>\n
It reached them through television broadcasts, recordings and social media. A Muslim thousands of kilometres away could be going about an ordinary morning, hear the Adhan from Makkah and suddenly feel connected to the Ka’bah.<\/p>\n
That was the special place occupied by the muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram.<\/p>\n
The Adhan is, after all, more than a call announcing prayer time. It is a reminder that however busy the world becomes, there remains a greater purpose beyond it.<\/p>\n
And Sheikh Ibrahim spent years giving that reminder with his voice.<\/p>\n
Perhaps one of the most touching accounts associated with his service was his recollection of his first Adhan at the Grand Mosque. As his voice echoed across the Haram and he looked towards worshippers performing Tawaf around the Ka’bah, he was overcome with emotion and humility.<\/p>\n
It was a moment that made him conscious of the extraordinary responsibility Allah had placed upon him.<\/p>\n
A voice that had begun in a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah had now reached the Sacred Mosque in Makkah.<\/p>\n
And then came September 21.<\/p>\n
At Fajr, Sheikh Ibrahim stood once again to perform the duty that had defined so much of his life.<\/p>\n
Allahu Akbar.<\/p>\n
The words rose over the Haram as they had countless times before.<\/p>\n
Worshippers responded to the call. The prayer was performed. The morning continued.<\/p>\n
But nobody knew that they were hearing his final Adhan.<\/p>\n
Only hours later, news of his death spread, leaving Muslims mourning a man whose voice had become part of their memories of Makkah.<\/p>\n
There is something deeply poignant about such a departure.<\/p>\n
He did not merely spend his life calling people towards prayer; on the morning of his death, he made one final call.<\/p>\n
Then he left this world.<\/p>\n
His passing has prompted an outpouring of prayers and tributes, with Muslims sharing recordings of his Adhan and remembering the distinctive voice that once filled the Sacred Mosque.<\/p>\n
For those who listened to him regularly, the recordings will now carry a different meaning.<\/p>\n
They will no longer be simply the voice of a muezzin calling people to Salah.<\/p>\n
They will be the preserved voice of a man whose final earthly service was to remind others of Allah.<\/p>\n
Perhaps this is one of the most beautiful legacies a muezzin can leave behind.<\/p>\n
Not wealth.<\/p>\n
Not possessions. Not fame.<\/p>\n
But a voice remembered whenever the words Allahu Akbar are heard.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani’s life reminds us that sometimes the greatest significance of a person’s work is found in its simplicity. Day after day, prayer after prayer, he stood to perform a duty that Muslims have heard for more than fourteen centuries.<\/p>\n
He called. People answered.<\/p>\n
And on his final morning, after calling others to Fajr, he departed to answer the ultimate call himself.<\/p>\n
May Allah forgive Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani, envelop him in His mercy, accept his years of service to the Adhan and the Sacred Mosque, illuminate his grave, raise his rank among the righteous and grant him Al-Jannatul Firdaus.<\/p>\n
May Allah grant patience and comfort to his family, colleagues, friends and all who mourn him.<\/p>\n
And may the voice that called millions to prayer continue to live in the hearts of those who heard it.<\/p>\n
Allahumma ighfir lahu warhamhu, wa adkhilhul Jannata bi rahmatika.<\/p>\n
May Allah forgive him, have mercy upon him and admit him into Paradise by His mercy.<\/p>\n
Ameen Ya Rabbil Alameen.<\/p>\n
