NYG: Sports Ministries to Embark on Periodic Camping For Discovered Talents -Minister<\/div>\n

Sports has been identified as key to any nation’s development. It is in the light of this that machineries are being put in place to take it an enviable height.<\/div>\n
Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Akin Dare<\/div>\n
made this revalation while presenting some of the gifted athletes discovered from the 5th National Youth Games (NYG) to newsmen at the University of Ilorin on Sunday September 15, 2019.<\/div>\n
Commending the athletes, the minister assured that aside the\u00a0federation\u2019s input in developing the talents, the ministry would henceforth, embark on periodic camping for the athletes to nurture them to make Nigeria proud in the future.<\/div>\n
\u201cWe want to make sure that beyond sending these young ones to federations we want to introduce periodic camping system so that we can nurture them and watch them grow to stardom.<\/div>\n

\u201cI deliberately decided to see these few ones, I know they will be more because at the\u00a0 last games 250 were discovered.<\/div>\n
\u201cOn Monday night when I\u00a0 was here, met with all the Directors of Sports (DoS) and we rubbed minds. Let me thank the DoS because without you, this NYG wouldn\u2019t be successful in spite of the fact that you are facing so much challenges.<\/div>\n
He said that the talents discovered would be penciled down and handed over to sports federation for Jeeping tabs on.<\/div>\n

Dare stressing on the importance of\u00a0 sports commissions\u00a0had advised all the 36 states of the federation to set up sports commissions in their various states.<\/div>\n
\u201cI wish as a whole we can have sports commissions all over the country unlike what is obtainable now that some states have ministries of sports while others have sports commissions,\u201d he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
