Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) Alumni Association in its bid to assist in developing education has expressed determination to construct 5,000 bed space hostels for its female students.<\/div>\n
The association’s dream for FUTMINNA is to make the institution a force to be reckoned with.<\/div>\n
The National President of the association, Ahmad Yahaya Alhassan disclosed this during the Maiden Reunion\/Dinner of the association organized by Kaduna Chapter which was held at Kabir Gymnasium over the weekend.<\/div>\n
The association had decried\u00a0the high rate of drop out amongst the female students which has been attributed to lack of<\/div>\n
accommodation within the campus.<\/div>\n
Lack of accomodation has been\u00a0 identified as one of the reasons why\u00a0 many female students stay off campus.<\/div>\n
In his goodwill message, the National President had expressed\u00a0 concern over the worrisome situation which he described as a contributory factor to students low performance.<\/div>\n
Worrisome also is the fact that many of these students are forced to share accomodation with their male counterparts. He lamented.<\/div>\n
” Information gathered revealed that these female students at times secured accommodation in their male counterparts house, and mostly they stay back to take care of the house while others are in school receiving lectures. So, in most cases, this led to their drop out”.<\/div>\n
\u00a0It is the realization of this sad development that the association he said vowed to assist the institution in taking education to greater heights.\u00a0 He informed.<\/div>\n
“We have resolved to come to the aid of the institution in our own little way and build an edifice of 5,000 bed space hostels.<\/div>\n
Alumni association is ready and willing to lend a helping shoulder for FUT Minna students to lean on for self-development.\u00a0Alhassan said.<\/div>\n
Alhassan commending the efforts of Kaduna branch for taking the lead<\/div>\n
added that the vision of the institution to develop quality entrepreneurs to help the nation’s economy must always be supported by the alumni.<\/div>\n
The alumni while expressing their commitments in seeing that the students remain dedicated to their studies said,<\/div>\n
“We would continue to play a mentorship role to the students of the institution.”<\/div>\n
In his word of advise, Alhassan enjoined every member to remain committed and dedicated in order to make the school project a reality.<\/div>\n
Speaking, the Guest Speaker, an alumni and Environmental Scientist, Associate Professor,\u00a0Yahaya Salleh Ibrahim\u00a0in his lecture titled:\u00a0Building New Realities, Establishing New Positions Using Old Bond of Friendship: Like unto Technological Features described\u00a0alumni as a symbol of authority, a symbol that makes various institution great.<\/div>\n
The dream of the Alumni he said is to see the students of FUTMINNA excel like that of the Cambridge university graduate. He cited\u00a0 Awolowo university, Ahmadu Bello University and University of Ibadan as universities to be rekoned with in Nigeria.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“Today, we are in a virtual world, virtual reality.<\/div>\n
\n
” What we are trying to do here today is to mobilise these realities to improve the institutions and improve the country.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
“Quite a number of us are working in different places. I am a lecturer and quite a number of us are engineers. Some of them architects they can help by developing the institution,” he said.<\/div>\n

Earlier in his remarks, Chairman, Kaduna State Chapter, Engr. Muhyideen Alimi Yusuf said the reunion entails celebrating the old students, adding that with crowd funding method, the alumni could be of help to the lives of the students.<\/div>\n
Yusuf while previewing the hostels’ architectural design explained that the alumni has decided to come up with laudable projects such as Students Hostels Development and Shea NUT industry among others.<\/div>\n
He urged members of the alumni association not to relent in their efforts in accomplishing the task ahead.<\/div>\n
The project which is under the Chairmanship of Vice President South, Mrs Kuburat Ishola promises to be a dream come true because according to the chairman of the committee all hands are on deck to ensure the successful implementation of the project.<\/div>\n
