Mrs. Ishaku speaking at an occasion organized by her NGO \u201cHope Afresh Foundation Taraba\u201d in continuation of marking the 16 days of activism campaign on fight against Gender-Based violence, also canvass support to end the menance in the society across the state.<\/strong><\/div>\n
The event which is the second activity in the lined off for the 2019 programme, took place at Hope Afresh Foundation Taraba <\/strong><\/div>\n

She said, record shows that the movement for the elimination of violence against women was started by activist at the inaugural women\u2019s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for women\u2019s Global leadership.<\/strong><\/div>\n
It is in view of this, Barr. Anna Darius Ishaku, restated commitment of their resolved to work collectively with her counter parts as Wives of the Northern Governors Forum to fight in reducing if not eradicate the menace.<\/strong><\/div>\n
She therefore remarked that women need to have their rights respected by all in the society, calling on them to brase up in supporting the campaign for a positive results.<\/strong><\/div>\n
Anna urged victims of any Gender-Based violence to speak out and always expose the perpatrators for legal action to prevail on them in order to serve as a deterrent to others, while assured her readiness to fight for their rights as women and girls.<\/strong><\/div>\n
In a presentation on Dangers of drug and substance abuse, a Psychologist, Sanda Benjamin said the drug abuse exposes the abusers to health hazards, adding that it also leads one to committing crimes such as kidnapping and armed robbery among other vices.<\/strong><\/div>\n
Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to the Wife of the Governor on administration, Nungrimam Dashe who spoke on the topic \u201cYES I CAN\u201d encouraged youths to make positive decision in life.<\/strong><\/div>\n
A nutritionist Nammuma Sylvanus Giwa who talked on Nutrition and Health encouraged participants to learn to eat good diets.<\/strong><\/div>\n
While giving a testimony, a rehabilitated drug abuser Jude Samson, appreciated the Governor\u2019s wife for establishing Hope Health Drug Centre as it has saved his life and urged youth to avoid bad companies and warned them not to indulge into drug and substance abuse, saying it will cut their lifespan short.<\/strong><\/div>\n
In a related development, the second to the last activity on the campaign which was held at the same venue, was focused on\u201dRAPE\u201d and other issues on violence against women and girls where different speakers including the Senior Special Assistant to the Wife of the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mrs. Elizabeth Usen Smith who spoke on the topic.<\/strong><\/div>\n
The 16 days activism campaign fight against Genda-Based violence headed by the wife of the governor, will end next week in Taraba state with a marathon walk to the State House of Assembly, the Judiciary to present a letter of protest to the two arms of government with a view to taking proactive measures in addressing the menace.<\/strong><\/div>\n
Meanwhile, the founder of the Hope Afresh Foundation, Mrs. Anna Darius had also announced that the rally (campaign) will be rounded up at the Government House Jalingo, which is the third arm where they will present a same letter of protest against the subject matter to Governor Darius Ishaku for immediate action.<\/strong><\/div>\n
