Nigerian Youths KeyTo Success Of Anti-Corruption Crusade – EFCC<\/strong><\/div>\n

The\u00a0Economic And Financial Crimes Commission in conjuction\u00a0with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the National Youth Service Corps, today joined the rest of the states in holding what has been described as the first-ever NIGERIAN YOUTHS WALK AGAINST CORRUPTION.<\/strong><\/div>\n
The walk held across the 36 States of Nigeria was meant to create awareness through the sensitization and mobilization of youths across the country in order that they reject the evils of corrupt practices.<\/strong><\/div>\n
This was disclosed by the Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission, (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu at the occasion of the walk.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
Delivery the speech in Kaduna, the State Coordinstor, Mailafiya Yakubu stated that the EFCC’s\u00a0desire is to ensure public ownership of the fight against corruption and make every Nigerian a ready stakeholder in the fight.<\/strong><\/div>\n
“I\u00a0 feel greatly delighted to welcome you here and share with you a new perspective on the Prevention Mandate of the Economic And Financial Crimes Commission as set out in Section 6(p) of the EFCC Establishment Act.<\/strong><\/div>\n
Public enlightenment and sensitisation about the menace of corruption have become more increasingly imperative as we continue to check\u00a0 the evils of economic and financial crimes in our midst.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“My desire in this regard is to ensure public ownership of the fight against corruption and make every Nigerian a ready stakeholder in the fight.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
The awakening and mobilization of the youths the Commission considers very germane in ensuring the success of the fight.<\/strong><\/div>\n
“The new perspective we are exploring is the awakening and mobilisation of\u00a0 youths\u00a0 in our nation to the task of\u00a0 exposing, confronting and tackling the scourge of corruption.<\/strong><\/div>\n
As we all know,\u00a0 youths constitute the bulk of our population and they are the\u00a0 realities and strength of our future.\u00a0 The Nigerian youths\u00a0 are crucial to the success of the anti-corruption crusade and commitments of President Muhammadu Buhari \u2018s\u00a0 government.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
In this regard, the EFCC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and the National Youth Service Corps, is\u00a0 holding the first-ever NIGERIAN YOUTHS WALK AGAINST CORRUPTION\u00a0 concurrently in all the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“The objectives of the Walk are\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
multifarious. The most significant of them are to sensitise, mobilise youths across the country\u00a0 to reject\u00a0 the evils of corrupt practises;\u00a0 encourage youths to be anti-corruption advocates and ambassadors;\u00a0 \u00a0enlist youths to partner with the EFCC by providing information and actionable intelligence on fraudsters, organise youths\u00a0 as change agents\u00a0 and pace-setters in integrity\u00a0 and\u00a0 sgalvanise the energy and resourcefulness of youths\u00a0 to prevent corruption\u00a0 in all sectors of our polity.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
The National Youth Service Corps, more than ever before,\u00a0 is ready to develop\u00a0 new modalities of youth engagements in the anti-corruption fight.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“Corps members in all states of the Federation will come out in large number tomorrow to lead the Walk.\u00a0 Other interest groups,\u00a0 like women;\u00a0 civil society organisations,\u00a0 labour unions\u00a0 and others will join\u00a0 in the Walk and we are excited about the prospects of the project.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“I want to use this forum to appeal to every Nigerian\u00a0 to come out in large number\u00a0 tomorrow and identify with the anti-corruption Walk.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“Our peculiarities and experience as a\u00a0 nation make\u00a0 every war against corruption to be\u00a0 imperative and all-involving.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
“We will continue to draw local and global attention to the fact that corruption is not our culture\u00a0 and does not grow\u00a0 on our soil.\u00a0 \u00a0“It is an accidental malaise and must not be allowed to remain in our midst.\u00a0 The EFCC will not relent in its works against it\u00a0 and every Nigerian\u00a0 must awake to the need for us to combat the evil together.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
Lastly,\u00a0 I deeply appreciate the cooperation, support\u00a0 and genuine drives and involvement of the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development\u00a0 and the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, who are in our midst.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
It is gladdening that they are showing the way forward to our youths because there can be no future for anyone if corruption is not destroyed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
