Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state has given NDLEA the right to arrest any illicit drug dealler in the state.<\/strong><\/div>\n
The Governor gave the order\u00a0 yesterday when he visited the Borno state command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Maiduguri.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

Zulum warned that his administration will not condone the use of illicit drugs in the state, noting that indulging in the use such drugs is responsible to most of the crimes been committed.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He added that, the use of illicit\u00a0 drugs pose great danger to the public health, particularly to our teeming youth. He also stated, his administration in an effort to combat the use of illicit drugs introduced social intervention programs that engageed alot of youth, which made them meaningful members of the society.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

“Illicit drugs are anything but harmless, and it contributes to the high rate of crime in communities. We have implored deliberate efforts by engaging our youth to be meaningful members of the community. Over 3,000 youth benefited from our social intervention package, I want to assure you of our support in eradicating this menace in our communities.” Zulum said.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

Governor Zulum also inspected over 10.5 tonnes of Indian hem (Canabis Sativa), which was seized by Borno Command of NDLEA in Maiduguri.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n

Borno Commandant of NDLEA Mr Joseph Icha took the Governor round to inspect the items seized. He informed the Governor that the discovery is the single largest seizure within the northeast region.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n
