{"id":5906,"date":"2020-07-23T20:51:26","date_gmt":"2020-07-23T20:51:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=5906"},"modified":"2020-07-23T20:51:26","modified_gmt":"2020-07-23T20:51:26","slug":"body-of-first-nigerian-female-combat-pilot-tolulope-arotile-laid-to-rest-admist-tears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=5906","title":{"rendered":"Body Of First Nigerian Female Combat\u00a0 \u00a0Pilot, Tolulope Arotile Laid to Rest Admist Tears"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Body Of First Nigerian Female Combat\u00a0 \u00a0Pilot, Tolulope Arotile Laid to Rest Admist Tears<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Tears, emotions and tributes flowed as remains of Nigeria\u2019s first combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, were buried at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja, on Thursday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Military personnel and other sympathisers gathered at the cemetery to pay their last respects and bid her farewell.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Earlier, her body was brought into the cemetery by an ambulance with registration number AF 442, belonging to the Nigerian Air Force.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal, Abubakar Sadique; Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs Pauline Tallen; the House Committee Chairman on Air Force, Bala Ib\u2019n Nalla and the family members of the deceased were at the funeral to pay the 24-year-old first female combat pilot last respect.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Also at the cemetery was the House of Representatives Committee Chairman on Air Force, Bala Ib\u2019n Nalla as well as other sympathisers to bid the late officer farewell.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Chief of Air Staff, Governor Bello and other sympathisers also laid wreath at the funeral.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Officiating Chaplain, Group Captain (Rev) Dogo Gani, in his funeral sermon, extolled Arotile\u2019s virtues, describing her as the \u201cDeborah of our time.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Nigeria was thrown into mourning on Tuesday last week when the Nigerian Air Force first announced that Arotile had died from an auto accident inside the NAF base in Kaduna State.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">NAF had said she sustained head injuries from the accident when she was \u201cinadvertently hit by the reversing vehicle of an excited former Air Force secondary school classmate while trying to greet her.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The AirForce said Arotile was hit by an ex-classmate, Nehemiah Adejoh, who had no valid driver\u2019s licence, declaring the matter a civil case, which would be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution of Adejoh and two other suspects.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Source: The General news<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Photo: Moji Delano blog<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Body Of First Nigerian Female Combat\u00a0 \u00a0Pilot, Tolulope Arotile Laid to Rest Admist Tears Tears, emotions and tributes flowed as remains of Nigeria\u2019s first combat helicopter pilot, Flying Officer Tolulope Arotile, were buried at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja, on Thursday.
