President Muhammadu Buhari has described the event in Mali as great setback for regional diplomacy and with grave consequences for the peace and security of West Africa.<\/div>\n

In his official comment while calling for sanity via his Twitter handle, he said,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“It is time for the\u00a0unconstitutional\u00a0‘authority in Mali to act responsibly and ensure restoration of constitutional order and stability.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cA politically stable Mali is paramount and crucial to the stability of the sub-region. We must all join efforts, ECOWAS, the AU, the UN and other stakeholders, and work together until sanity returns to Mali with the restoration of Civil Administration.\u201d<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
For over 24hrs now,\u00a0 Mali has been under the control of military officers.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
President Ibrahim Boubacar Kaita of Mali who was detained was forced to resign at gunpoint in a coup d\u2019etat that drew international condemnation.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Massive protest by citizens demanding the resignation of the president who they claimed has failed them for not addressing such issues like security, corruption and better standard of living of citizens was given as basis for the coup.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
However, the United Nations Security Council has urged mutineers to release the President and other detained officials.<\/div>\n
