World Teacher’s Day:\u00a0Surprise Package For Teachers As Buhari Approves Special Salary Scale, Allowances<\/div>\n

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved a special salary scale for teachers in basic and Secondary schools, including provisions for rural posting allowance, science teachers allowance and peculiar allowance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
President Buhari also approved a special teacher pension scheme which extends Teacher’s retirement age to 65 years and teaching service years to 40<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
President Buhari stated this in a message to the celebration of the 2020 World Teacher’s Day in Abuja.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
To further motivate and restore the lost glory of teachers in Nigeria, president Buhari also approved building of low cost housing for teachers in rural areas.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The president also approved sponsorship to at least one refresher training per annum to benchmark best practices for improved teaching and learning<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Other areas of incentive include expansion of the annual presidential teachers and schools Awards to cover more categories and for the winners to be considered for National Awards and National Productivity Order of Meria awards<\/div>\n

Prompt payment of salaries and timely promotion.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The National President of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT commended president Buhari for the kind gesture aimed at improving the status of teachers and called on relevant stakeholders to ensure full implementation of the\u00a0 incentives<\/div>\n
