Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA) has expressed its determination to ensure that quality and affordable health care services reach the doorsteps of every residents in Kaduna state.<\/div>\n

This is to\u00a0 be made possible through its contributory scheme put in place and supported by over fifty organizations who stood for the course.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Health services will be provided to the people without financial stress.<\/div>\n

This was disclosed to journalists by the Coordinator, Federation of Informal Workers Organization Of Nigeria, (FIWON) North – West Zone, Comrade Kabir Ibrahim\u00a0 during an interactive meeting which took place in Kaduna yesterday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The interactive session which had in attendance representatives of organizations across the Local Government Areas of the state was a fora meant to rub minds on how the contributory health scheme can work for those in the informal sector as well as\u00a0 \u00a0chart a way forward for the success of the scheme.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
“We invited many leaders here after which they will go and brief their members and then invite KADCHMA who will then register them.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Comrade Kabir said the project became necessary in order to give those within the informal sector a sense of belonging health wise.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Most of the health benefits go for federal and state government workers and we contribute more than 65% GDP in Nigeria. So we just have to key into the scheme and benefit too because it is our scheme. I believe after this meeting, most of our members will benefit from the scheme.”<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
KADCHMA he said is partnering with the Kaduna state government and is to enjoy all the health facilities in the state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Kaduna state has about 250 health facilities of which our members are free to choose from. We thank Kaduna state governor for deeming it fit to collaborate with the informal sector.” He stated.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Speaking, the Director General KADCHMA, Alhaji Aliyu Saidu, while fielding questions from journalists expressed satisfaction over the progress report of the organization’s activities.<\/div>\n
Over a thousand people he said have visited various facilities in the state and had gotten assess to quality and affordable health care.<\/div>\n

The Director urged workers under informal sector to use the opportunity availed them under the health contributory scheme to register themselves and family members in order that they can enjoy quality and affordable health services<\/div>\n

Expatiating, he said<\/div>\n

“With the little investment made from the beginning of scheme of\u00a0 N10,657, of\u00a0 family of 6, now over 1000 people are assessing care and at the point of care, they paid nothing. It is a huge success.<\/div>\n
The scheme has saved a lot of lives. Not only that, it is also risk free.<\/div>\n
The number of people loosing their lives on daily basis or rely on herbal medicine for their medical is really alarming.<\/div>\n
So, with this opportunity we have in hand, we are getting there in terms of assess to quality and affordable health care. Aliyu assured.<\/div>\n

Aliyu added that the scheme provides equality and opportunity to assess facility.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Now, we have a system in Nigeria, where any resident in Kaduna can walk to any facility of their own choice irrespective of how rich the facility is or where it is situated.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In the past, we know there used to be a line where you have facility for the poor. With this scheme, such is eliminated.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The universal Health coverage gives access to everyone irrespective of class and gender.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
One of their responsibilities he stressed is\u00a0 resource mobilization and that they are not resting on their owl.<\/div>\n

Mallam Suleiman in his presentation opened up on the details of the scheme which further heightened the participatory session as participants had opportunity to ask and get clearance on grey areas.<\/div>\n

Chairperson Rigassa Ward Cooperative Society, Hajiya Hadiza Abubakar\u00a0 who was initially sceptical about the programme expressed happiness for being part of the programme.<\/div>\n

According to her,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“I am happy with this programme . Before l was seeing it as a difficult thing for women but after today’s lecture, l have seen that it is very easy and important to us as women. Everybody can benefit from it. I will impact the knowledge gained to others.<\/div>\n
Once l go back home, l will step it down for them to benefit.”<\/div>\n

A photographer, Sabastin Kpambe also gave his assessment of the programme.<\/div>\n
” It is said that health is wealth. And when a photographer is healthy, he can go out and do his job conveniently. I will talk to our members so as to subscribe to this programme. We pray that the programme is going to succeed.<\/div>\n
Also on the part of the government, we hope and pray that they are faithful to the task and also those who are going to implement to live up to their responsibilities.”<\/div>\n
