Kaduna: Association For The Blind Pleads With El – Rufai To Pay Entitlements Of Retired Members<\/div>\n

Nigerian Association for the Blind, Kaduna State Chapter has called on Kaduna State Government to pay the entitlements of their members recently retired.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This it said will help to cushion the hardship members are going through.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This plea was made through<\/div>\n
the Public Relations Officer of the association, Malam Ismail Abubakar while speaking with newsmen at<\/div>\n
the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Secretariat, Kaduna.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to him,\u00a0about 30 of their members were issued with retirement and sack letters.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Lamenting, he said most of their members attended vocational training centers both in Kaduna and Lagos states and they have not reached the age of retirement in civil service, but\u00a0 were issued with retirement letters while other members were sacked.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Explaining further, Malam Ismail Abubakar said sacking and retiring their members would force them into street begging despite the existing laws prohibiting begging in the state.<\/div>\n

\nAbout sixty of their members that were sacked and retired in twenty sixteen he said were yet to receive their entitlements.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The association is appealing to the Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru Ahmed Elrufai to come to their aids as they are heads of their families. They urged the\u00a0 governor to use this holy month of Ram\u00e0dan to pay their entitlements and reverse the decision of sacking of workers in the state.<\/div>\n

Intimating the media, mallam<\/div>\n
Abdulhameed Yakubu from Kaduna North and Mallam Ibrahim Rabiu from Zaria Local Government both lamented that they were retired in 2016 and that up to date, their entitlements are yet to be paid.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
In a sad revelation, Mallam Ibrahim Rabiu explained that he lost both his wife and daughter in 2016 due to his inability to pay for blood transfusion of his daughter.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
He said he is also homeless because his landlord gave him quit notice.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Hauwa Hassan, one of the victims of this April’s retirement who worked for twenty six years at Kaduna North Local Government said she has accepted the retirement in good faith.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The government she appealed should pay their entitlements on time in order that they can go into businesses of their choice so that they can be able to take care of feedings and children’s school fees.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
