The Nigeria Union of Journalists\u00a0 (NUJ) Kaduna State Council has reacted to a report by a social media platform alleging that the Kaduna State Government intends to seize\u00a0the NUJ Kaduna Secretariat Building for supporting the NLC protest.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This allegation the\u00a0Council considers\u00a0 baseless as there is no such move.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This was contained in a statement\u00a0 jointly issued and signed by the Council Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf and Council Secretary, Comrade Femi Adi respectively.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It states:<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The attention of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Kaduna state Council has been drawn to a social media post with the caption ” El Rufa’i threatens to seize the NUJ Kaduna Secretariat Building for their support for NLC protest”.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Kaduna Council of the NUJ wishes to state that the post, which went viral on different social media platforms is baseless and unfounded.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The post is mischievous and\u00a0 only intended to disparage the reputation of the governor and to create disharmony between Kaduna state government and the union.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“At no point in time did the Council paid a courtesy call to the governor to even warrant such a position from Malam Nasir El Rufa’i.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Kaduna Council of the NUJ views the post as the handiwork of faceless mischief makers who are bent on creating tension where none exist.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“The Council urges its members to remain calm and to continue to remain professional in their day-to-day operations, as it has taken steps to unearth the source of the malicious post.<\/div>\n
