Twitter has expressed \u201cdeep concern\u201d over the federal government\u2019s decision to suspend its operations in Nigeria.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Sarah Hart, Twitter\u2019s Senior Policy Communications Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, who made this known in a statement, said the company is investigating the development.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
\u201cThe announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter\u2019s operations in Nigeria is deeply concerning.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re investigating and will provide updates when we know more,\u201d the statement said.<\/div>\n

The federal government suspended Twitter\u2019s operations in a statement on Friday.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It will be recalled that Twitter on Tuesday deleted one of President Buhari’s posts termed as controversial posted on his personal account @MBuhari.<\/div>\n

FG Suspends Twitter’s Operations in Nigeria<\/div>\n

The Federal Government has suspended, indefinitely, the operations of<\/div>\n
the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed,<\/div>\n
announced the suspension in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday,<\/div>\n
citing the persistent use of the platform for activities that are<\/div>\n
capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Minister said the Federal Government has also directed the<\/div>\n
National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to immediately commence the<\/div>\n
process of licensing all OTT and social media operations in Nigeria.<\/div>\n
