Rice Millers in Kaduna today were given a boost as the flag-off of the Paddy Sales and Wet Season Anchor Borrower programme by Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria (RIFAN) in Kaduna offered them the opportunity to increase the purchase of rice for their businesses.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The rice is sold to them at a subsidized price as a means of boosting food security.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This was disclosed by the National President, Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, (RIFAN) Alhaji Aminu Goroyo during the official flagging-off of the Paddy Sales and Wet Season Anchor Borrower Programme held today, 24th, June, 2021 at Farin Gida Mondo, Kaduna.<\/div>\n

According to the President, the exercise is in compliance with President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive on food security.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“We are here this morning to respond to the call of Mr. President that Nigeria must grow what we eat. To be able to feed Nigeria without importing for the nation. As a result, RIFAN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with central bank of Nigeria.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

“We are abiding by the instruction of Mr. President to cushion the effect on the people. RIFAN is an association\u00a0 partnering with the central bank to execute this programme. He said<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Alhaji Aminu explained that It is a rice repayment which they have collected from farmers to be sold to Millers at a subsidize price for them to sell to Nigerians.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
That all the rice produced in the north are gathered to sell at a reduced price and that the programme has been launched in 16 states.<\/div>\n

Alhaji Aminu\u00a0 before performing the flagging -off ceremony appreciated the farmers and President Buharis administration saying,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

“What we are obtaining today is about 9 million metric tone but in 2015 before the coming of this administration production was 2 million metric tones.” he said .<\/div>\n

In his keynote address, the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefele ably represented by the CBN Branch Controller Central Bank of Nigeria, Kaduna, said Nigeria is trying to boost agriculture production.\u00a0 All commodities he said are represented and money are given to ensure food security in the country. Emefele expressed delight that by this contribution by the farmers, their money is back and that more farmers will be able to benefit from the bank.<\/div>\n
More jobs will be created through this Programme, he said.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

“A lot of employment is targeted through this programme. It is a continious programme and Central bank will continue to sustain the it to ensure food security in the country. He assured.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Central bank he said appreciates their efforts while urging that they continue in that spirit to make Nigeria a food producing nation.<\/div>\n

Director CBN Abuja said what CBN wants to achieve is to moderate prices by eliminating the activities of middlemen. The programme he said has encouraged youth to go into farming.<\/div>\n

That the farmers are recognized as they<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Explain the role of CBN That bcis the activities of middlemen increase the prices and not allowing produce to get to consumers . What they want to achieve as CBN is moderate prices. That CBN is ready to support the farmers and are happy with what is happening. This progm he said has continued to encourage youth to go into agriculture.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Zauzau, Alhaji Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli the representative of the Emir, District Head Kawo, commended the efforts of the farmers\u00a0 for the repayment of their loans which he said has made it possible to flag-off the wet farming season. Bamali charged the Millers to mill the rice well so as to be fit for consumption as well as sell it to consumers at a subsidized price.<\/div>\n

The Kaduna State Commissioner of Agriculture, Hajiya Halima Lawal\u00a0 who spoke through her representative while commending FIPAN in keeping afloot the ‘Anchor Borrowers’ programme charged the farmers\/ Millers to make judicious use of the opportunity at their door steps. The ministry is ready to support them. She said.<\/div>\n

In their separate remarks, the Director General, North\/West Rice Association\u00a0\u00a0Mr. Anddy and one of RIFAN’s patron, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba Magajin Gari Sokoto all expressed satisfaction over the efforts of the farmers and successes and transparency recorded across the country.<\/div>\n

Responding national deputy vice President urged people to join the Association for better result. He encouragd women’s participation to ensure more successes.<\/div>\n

The Kaduna State Chairman, RIPAN Alhaji Muhammed Umar Nungu expressed gratitude to all that made the programme a success.<\/div>\n
