In pursuance of its good governance programme,\u00a0the Public and Private Development Center. (PPDC) yesterday in Kaduna met with stakeholders to review documents as a way of strengthening it’s goal.<\/div>\n

Speaking,\u00a0the Programme Manager, Public and Private Development Center,(PPDC)\u00a0Verstima Tingir\u00a0said<\/div>\n
the review has become necessary in order to enhance good governance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
To achieve this, and to make their work evidence based, the center swung into\u00a0 conducting research and had received inputs from both actors and non actors including the general public. This will ensure Physical Transparency, give room for citizens participation in their affairs, which eventually will improve service delivery. He said.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
“Over time, we have realized the need for us to do our work on evidence, which led to us doing the research. it is also important for us that gathering of the evidence could create a process whereby all the stakeholders who we would need their inputs are involved and ofcourse there is the need for us to validate the information and ensure that when we are publishing information, whatever we put out to public is accurate, is the best level obtainable and ensure also that every input that is needed to make the report to be complete is also\u00a0 included as well.<\/div>\n

Physical Transparency is very key to ensuring that there is more of citizens participation, ensure that there is improve service delivery. He emphasied.<\/div>\n

As for the expectation at the end of the review, he has this to say.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“With this review, we are expecting that this will help us to have more comprehensive report at the end of the day. Doing our best to ensure that all the inputs are captured. That is to say\u00a0 whatever we publish as the final report will not only be the views of the PPDC\u00a0 but of all the stakeholders involved in the process.<\/div>\n

<\/div>\n
Verstima\u00a0added that the review will be benefial to Nigerians as it will help to ensure more citizens participation in governance.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“Through the process we have realized that physical transparency is very key to ensuring that there is more of citizens participation, there is improve service delivery.<\/div>\n
In doing this research the idea is for us to identify what steps to be taken to ensure that we are meeting the Physical Transparency Goals, identify what gaps are currently existing and how the stakeholders will be able to participate to be able to meeting those goals.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
This will help to support non state actors support state actors and in the end, the goal is for us to improve service delivery, improve participation in governance and generally improve the lives of majority Nigerians.<\/div>\n

The stakeholders in this process includes the government,\u00a0key government agencies, key government actors who are playing critical roles in transparency and meeting up Physical Transparency Goals in the state.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u00a0Others are, the Civil Society organizations, Media and other members of the public who have either be actively participating in ensuring Physical transparency and who the research has identified as being\u00a0 critical stakeholders that need to be part of the process.<\/div>\n

Recorded achievements has been in the area of respondent’s readiness to open up on issues which he said had greatly helped in\u00a0 the collation of evidences.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n
“Stakeholders identified as respondents in the course of the research have been open speaking to us, have provided us with rich contents and have also been able to give us practical steps that we can take for us to be able to meet up with the goals that we\u00a0 planned to.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As for challenges, even though people have spoken to us, we still feel there might be missing voices. Ofcourse with every research there is usually sample size of people that we are speaking to. If we are able to speak to more people for more inputs, that would make our research richer.<\/div>\n

The project he said is taking place across 4 states in Nigeria.Kaduna, Ekiti,<\/div>\n
Akwa Ibom and Anambra. These states have been chosen as pilot states<\/div>\n
The goal for us is to scale up this kind of work in other states and we are currently being supported by the MACARTHUR<\/div>\n
Foundation.<\/div>\n
