A Group under the auspices of Arewa Solidarity Organization (ASO) has called on the All Progressive Northerns to file behind former Governor of Borno State, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff\u2019s bid for the National Chairmanship of\u00a0 the All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The spokesperson of the group, Abdullahi Risky said this during a press conference at Garden Palace Hotel in Kaduna, saying that APC needs a person with the credentials of Alhaji Modu Sheriff to move the party forward.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
They described Senator Ali Modu who was a two-time\u00a0 governor of Borno State as one who is an advocate for\u00a0 progressive politics.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
His Chairmanship according to them, will rejuvenate and move APC to the next level.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\u201cHaving understudied his commitment to progressive and party politics, as well as the enhancement of democratic tenets, we are convinced beyond all doubts and emotions that Sheriff is the best for the APC top job.<\/div>\n

To realize President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s plea that the APC should not be allowed to die after his tenure, ASO explained that the group resolved to support Sheriff to emerge as the National Chairman, because he is about the only one who has what it takes to check the PDP, which is desperate to oust APC from power in 2023.<\/div>\n

\u201cHis enormous goodwill both within the PDP and other opposition parties, will further deplete the size and fortunes of other political parties to the advantage of the APC,\u201d they said.<\/div>\n

Arewa Solidarity Organization added that the insecurity bedevilling the country today needs the attention of a competent and experienced hand like Modu Sheriff who was able to cool the waves of insurgency in Borno State during his tenure.<\/div>\n
