{"id":9864,"date":"2021-10-21T20:14:27","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T20:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=9864"},"modified":"2021-10-21T20:14:27","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T20:14:27","slug":"alleged-abuja-kaduna-train-attack-no-bandits-attack-on-train-nrc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=9864","title":{"rendered":"Alleged Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: No Bandits Attack On Train &#8211; NRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Alleged Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: No Bandits Attack On Train &#8211; NRC<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Zainab Tanimu<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Kaduna, Northwest, Nigeria<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has described as false the reports making the rounds on the alleged\u00a0bandits attacks on Abuja-Kaduna train KA4 between Asham and Kubwa on Monday afternoon.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Managing Director of the NRC, Engineer Fidet Okhiria\u00a0denied this in a statement on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">According to him, there are always hoodlums who usually throw heavy stones at the moving train along Abuja-Kaduna route.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThere was no bandit attack on the train; it\u2019s just a rumour otherwise, they will have seen bullets all over the train.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201dIt was hoodlums who threw stones at the train and because the police got one suspect, at night, more hoodlums came out to attack the train in protest against the arrest made in the afternoon.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The NRC he said has spoken to security agencies &#8220;to help us prevent such future occurrences and intervene in the matter, so they will know how best to deal with the situation,\u201d Mr Okhiria said.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Okhiria urged the public using the trains not to panic as the Minister of Transportation and NRC would ensure the safety of Nigerians on that route.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Similarly, the Manager Abuja-Kaduna Train Service, Paschal Nnorli, confirmed that the train arrived Idu station on schedule on Monday, and denied any bandit attack.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThis news is false. In between Asham and Kubwa sections, some hoodlums threw stones and broke the windscreen of our locomotive.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe crew and armed police escort went after them, the train, however, continued its trip down to Idu,\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe attention of Nigerian Railway Corporation has been drawn to fake online news that the KA4 train from Kaduna to Abuja was attacked on Monday by armed bandits between Asham and Kubwa.
