{"id":9956,"date":"2021-10-28T08:51:15","date_gmt":"2021-10-28T08:51:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=9956"},"modified":"2021-10-28T08:51:15","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T08:51:15","slug":"fraudsters-have-created-fake-enaira-social-media-handles-cbn-alerts-nigerians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsreservoir.com\/?p=9956","title":{"rendered":"Fraudsters have created fake eNaira social media handles, CBN alerts Nigerians"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\">Fraudsters have created fake eNaira social media handles, CBN alerts Nigerians<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has alerted the public about fake social media handles of eNaira.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">President Muhammadu Buhari launched the country\u2019s digital currency on Monday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">In a statement on Wednesday, the apex bank said impostors are already defrauding people.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cFollowing the formal launch of the eNaira on Monday, October 25, 2021, the attention of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been drawn to criminal and illegal activities of some individuals and a fraudulent twitter handle, @enaira_cbdc purported to belong to the Bank.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThe impostor handle and fraudulent persons have been posting messages related to the eNaira with the intent of wooing unsuspecting Nigerians with claims that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), among other falsities, is disbursing the sum of 50 Billion eNaira currency.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cThese impostors are bent on defrauding innocent and unsuspecting members of the public through the links attached to their messages for application to obtain eNaira wallets and become beneficiaries of the said 50 billion eNaira currency.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cFor the avoidance of doubt, the Central of Nigeria (CBN) is not the owner of that twitter handle (@enaira_cbdc) and indeed suspended its presence on Twitter following the Federal Government\u2019s Ban.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cIn effect, the Bank is not disbursing eNaira currency to citizens.
