Media and Civil Society Organizations\u00a0 on<\/div>\n
the 29th October, 2021 met in Kaduna to discuss environmental related issues.<\/div>\n

The meeting which was organized by<\/div>\n
‘Extinction Rebellion’ with support from ‘Bridge that Gap Initiative’\u00a0\u00a0brought together Media and CSOs to discuss on loss of Plant and Animal species as a result of climate change.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
According to the Coordinator, Extinction Rebellion Kaduna, Gloria Bulus,<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
\"\"<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
“This is preparatory to Conference of Parties(COP 26) in Glasgow, Scotland which is calling on World leaders to increase Climate Finance to address loss of the rich biodiversity of Africa.”<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
She urged the media to assist in sensitizing the citizens on the environmental hazards of climate change.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Contributing, the Executive Director, Africa Media Development Foundation (AMDF)\u00a0 lliya Kure said climate change is real. It is a tropical issue which needs to be discussed.<\/div>\n
He charged the media and individuals to be agents of change.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n

It was a though-provoking discussion as everyone made meaningful contributions.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
At the end of the meeting,\u00a0 the Forum\u00a0resolves as follows:<\/div>\n

1.Stakeholders should actively engage media in sensitizing citizens on climate change issues.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
2. Government at all levels should be sensitive in the plight of the citizens when developing laws and policies on climate issues.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
3.Media should sustain its role in sensitization on Climate issues.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
4.Healthy collaboration between the CSOs and Media on environmental actions should continue.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
5. Governmnet should support recycling companies in their drive to convert waste to wealth.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
6. Government should invest in alternative\u00a0 source of Energy.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
