Saudi Arabian authorities have prevented prominent Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi from entering the country to perform this year\u2019s Hajj pilgrimage.<\/p>\n
Sheikh Gumi in a Facebook post on Monday has explained that despite the fact that he was granted Hajj visa, he was denied entrance into Medina.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cFor some obvious reasons, my views about the world politics, the Saudi authorities are uncomfortable about my presence in Hajj after giving me the Hajj Visa.<\/p>\n
BBC reports that Sheikh Gumi who was together with a delegation of Islamic scholars sponsored by the Nigerian Hajj Commission (NAHCON) on arrival in Medina last Saturday on an Umra Air flight, was turned away by Saudi immigration officials.<\/p>\n
The Sheikh thanked the Nigerian authorities for pledging to take up the matter immediately with Saudi authorities saying, “That is the value of our cherished freedom and democracy.<\/p>\n
