The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ Kaduna has sworn in new Excos with AbdulGafar Alabelewe emerging as Chairman.<\/p>\n
The swearing in ceremony which took place at the NUJ Secretariat was witnessed by members and well-wishers who were there to welcome the new leadership.<\/p>\n
According to the new Chairman, it is a friendly contest and therefore, no Victor, no vanquish.<\/p>\n
His focus he said is to contribute to the growth of the council and promised to carry everyone along.<\/p>\n
AbdulGafar also promised to see to the unification of members of various chapels with a view to enhancing unity at the council level. He called for maximum cooperation of members, urging that they work together as an entity for the success and growth of the council.<\/p>\n
Other officers who spoke after the swearing-in exercise included, one of the contestants in the just concluded NUJ Presidential election, Comrade Garba Muhammed, former VP, Northwest Zone, Comrade Idris Adamu, Former NUJ Chairman, Comrade Adamu Yusuf, \u00a0 a one time chairperson, Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, hajiya Farida Abubakar Ahmed, now Executive Director (Radio), Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) and Present Chair person, NAWOJ, hajiya Fatima Aliyu.<\/p>\n
All their messages bordered on the need for members to develop the spirit of oneness and that of commitments in order to take the NUJ council to greater heights.<\/p>\n
The newly elected Chairman, AbdulGafar Alabelewe took over from hajiya Asma’u Yawo Halilu in a contest many described as a well contested election which ended 127 votes in favour of AbdulGafar as against 81 votes of hajiya Asma’u Halilu.<\/p>\n
